I’m sure that the image at the bottom left is from the Kent State shootings in 1970. Even after nearly 50 years I can remember the distraught, kneeling young woman and the four bodies on the ground. The incident did immense damage to American prestige around the world. In the US militarised responses to civil disobedience have a long history.
Yes, it is – a very familiar photo, similar to the one of the napalmed little girl in its recognizability. I was just out of university then and it felt very close to home.
American history after WWII mostly doesn’t get covered outside of specialized classes anymore; I don’t recognize the photo, but I remember hearing about the event somewhere (at the very least in the opening to Watchmen)…

Yes, very familiar to our generation. I’m not sure how many members of generations X, Y etc would recognise either photo.
