Comey to everyone: Never mind
Oh hai, Comey says he was just kidding. The people who voted after his intervention and before his just kidding? Oh well!
The F.B.I. informed Congress on Sunday that it has not changed its conclusions about Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state, removing a dark cloud that has been hanging over her campaign two days before Election Day.
James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, said in a letter to members of Congress that “based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton.”
…
In the immediate term, the letter removes a cloud that has hung over the Clinton campaign for a week since Mr. Comey announced his agents were reviewing new emails that might be related to an investigation into Mrs. Clinton that ended in July. But Mr. Comey’s move is sure to raise new questions from Democrats. Most importantly: Why did Mr. Comey raise the specter of wrongdoing before agents had even read the emails, especially since it only took days to determine they were not significant.
Why indeed.
Is it not a federal felony to interfere with an election? Well it should be! And the Director should not do it anyway — in fact, not even contemplate it for one moment. Otherwise, no longer fit to Direct. Easy Comey, easy Gooey.
Belongs in FedPen.
Yup, he undoubtably changed the trajectory of the election. Even if Clinton wins, at this point it may have cost the Democrats several seats in the Senate (including control of the senate) and seats in the House as well. Just appalling, all because he backed himself into a corner by grandstanding a few months ago which meant he felt he had to say something last week. Those pesky policies of keeping your mouth shut until there is something firm to say are there for a reason Comey!
Assuming she wins (which she’s still the favorite to do, regardless of model), she should fire his ass. In fact, Dems need to stop appointing Republican FBI directors period (and he was Republican when Obama appointed him from what I remember).
BKiSA, yes he was. It might be uncharitable to wonder if his political leanings made him err in his decision to not follow departmental policy to the letter.
Yeah, I’m a bit hesitant to assume partisanship on Comet’s part (the FBI is another story) but the rest stands. Whatever his actual reasons he fucked up in an unforgivable fashion and should get the sack.
I can’t remember if this link got dropped in a previous thread.

In the article Rob @#6 links to (thanks bigly), former Assistant Director is quoted as saying:
What a great example to set. For Russia. Hey, did you hear that North Korea endorses Trump? Surprise?
Any attempt at ‘bipartisan’ warm-fuzzy ecumenicism with Repuglicans has to be ditched. The core of the GOP is as much at war against the United States as the Confederates were.
