Soapy Joe yet again
I despise Joe Lieberman. I always have, but every time I hear about him again, I despise him more. Treacherous, self-satisfied, self-aggrandizing, self-admiring – happy to make millions of fellow-citizens worse off than they would otherwise be, just for the sake of his own preening smirking ego. What a sack of shit.
I concur with your dislike of certain American politicians. If you really want to feel sick, then check out what is happening in China right now and everyone is just standing by and doing nothing. It is disgusting.

Hear! Hear!
I fully agree with you on all points!
Though someone may correct me on this, the US and Australian senates (to name just two) appear to be modelled on the British House of Lords, and are as justifiable in democratic terms as is the latter moth-eaten institution.
They are supposed to be houses of review. A better review would be for contentious lower-house legislation to be put to a popular but non-compulsory referendum.
It would certainly put paid to the carrers of some the self-aggrandising control freaks of the world.
Lieberman is despicable. A sickening deceitful bully. I hope Connecticut can get the hell rid of him. Meanwhile, why oh why don’t some Democratic so-called leaders slice him off at the knees? What is wrong with them?
MoveOn has raised a ton of money to slice him off at the knees – 650 grand in the last 24 hours. I would love to see this bit of smug backstabbing powertripping arrogance finally send him into humiliating obscurity. Though why his work at the Republican convention wasn’t enough to do that I’ll never know. Let’s have a little partisanship around here! I mean there. In DemocraticPartyOville.
Poor Joe! Don’t you understand that all this bad behavior comes from primary abuse at the hands of Ned Lamont and his allies on the extreme left? How can you expect him to maintain his psychological equilibrium when someone actually challenged him — him, a sitting senator! and a really really righteous person !– in the Democratic Primary because of some little things like his enthusiastic support for endless wars, his callous dismissal of abortion rights he supposedly upholds, and his constant moral preening.
We all just need to be nice to him, and he’ll come around one day, really he will! Why, the latest problem with the Medicare option was just that meanie Anthony Weiner saying it would lead to single payer. Give the guy a break! I mean, what’s more important, his ego or tens of thousands of the lives of the great unwashed?
Ned Lamont wuz robbed!
I can’t decide whom I loathe more, Lieberman or Obama and the Dems who roll over and play submissive puppy. There is very little slack I’m willing to cut any longer for Obama, who’s gone beyond disappointing progressives and is nearly in outright betrayal territory. He – and the Dems – don’t have to roll over to Lieberman or the Republicans. It’s a willing choice.
Meanwhile, I hear stories on NPR about out-of-work people going bankrupt, losing their homes, or skipping surgery and dying because of our immoral “health care system.” “Driveway moment” indeed – sputtering angrily while tearing up.
And the worst part? These poor people put on a brave face, talk about how they’re hard-working and will keep soldiering on at Wal-Mart seven days a week because “that’s the American way.” They’ve internalized the uber-Capitalist work ethic to the point where they can’t even get angry at the politicians who are responsible for this.
