Major Powergrabs
Hahahaha Trump whined back in 2012 about Obama’s habit of…
wait for it
…issuing executive orders.

In 2012, future U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted, “Why is Barack Obama constantly issuing executive orders that are major power grabs of authority?”

It’s fine when a white guy does it.
But Trump isn’t white. He’s orange. That is one of the many ways in which he is like Cheez Whiz, others including being fat, slimy, revolting, bad for you, and relying on crass commercialism.
So then we get into a discussion of reality v appearance. He’s not really orange: that’s makeup. He’s very heavily made up, and so ineptly that we can see where the makeup stops.
He’s transorange. How dare you mispigment him!
@Mosnae,
Also, neither should be allowed anywhere near a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich.
Ophelia, are your Congress critters doing anything more useful than standing outside a building police have barred them from?
I’m gonna see about calling mine and suggesting they actually engage in strategy (I know, they spent four years not thinking strategically but at some point they’ve gotta demonstrate the sort of spine available to a minority in the legislature).
It’s a trend, though, isn’t it? The Executive Orders. Obama made the most, until he was eclipsed by Trump the first time, who was then outdone by Biden, then outdone by Trump the second time. Executive Orders is just how the US “does government” now, apparently having largely given up on building consensus and legislating and all that guff.
Well that’s pretty much 100% Republicans’ fault at this point… Trump doesn’t even need to do executive orders for most of what he wants; he has complete control of Congress (I refuse to believe that any Republican currently in there isn’t going to have a 99+ percent “Trump Score”), but he’s doing it for shits and giggles.
I recommend watching this interview about Musk on Democracy Now! with an excellent journalist, Chris McGreal:

Guardian: Chris McGreal’s pieces for The Guardian are headlined “What does Elon Musk believe?” and “How the roots of the ‘PayPal mafia’ extend to apartheid South Africa.” The interview is in connexion with these articles. You can readily access them on the internet.
What they clearly bring to attention is the fact that the huge fuss about DEI on the far-right (which includes a departed, unlamented, and wholly insincere & dishonest commenter here) is not in fact animated by any concern for employment on the basis of ‘merit’, but by straightforward racism, as has become very obvious in recent days.
I also recommend this Youtube interview from MeidasTouch with Ché Bolden, who is a retired (black) Marine Corps aviator with the rank of colonel who eventually went on to become the Administrator of NASA from 2009 to 2017 under former President Barack Obama:

BKiSA, I sent comments to both of my Senators (both Republicans). One of them answered, and it was as expected. He was elected by the people. Yeah, so what? So were you, and he’s making you irrelevant.
It’s tempting to write back to her and say “Joe Biden was elected by the people; so you wouldn’t have made a peep if he’d used an executive order to end grazing permits on federal lands?” Since she ran for Congress in the first place to ensure they didn’t raise the price of grazing permits (she has made millions…maybe billions…from the policy), somehow I think she would have erupted in a chorus of peeps.
Well I’m an Oregonian, so my representatives in theory are the opposition. There’s no helping any of the Republicans who are merely puppets. They can at least attempt to gum up the works and let the Republicans pass a budget with only Republican votes, spreading the pain around.
Of course, Trump may just claim a budget was passed without that ever happening.
