Needs and wants
Trump on Tuesday refused to rule out invading Greenland or Panama when asked if the U.S. could use military force to acquire the Arctic island or the Central American canal.
Asked if he would rule out economic or military coercion to gain control of Greenland and the Panama Canal, Trump said, “I’m not gonna commit to that. No. It might be that you’ll have to do something.”
“I can’t assure you — you’re talking about Panama and Greenland — no, I can’t assure you on either of those two,” Trump said in response to the question at a press conference. “But I can say this: We need them for economic security.”
And what we need we help ourselves to.
“We need Greenland for national security purposes,” he said Tuesday. “People really don’t even know if Denmark has any legal right to it, but if they do they should give it up because we need it for national security.”
And I need Trump to be in prison for national security, so hurry up on that.
We don’t really need them for security; he’s just blowing wind. We’ve managed to get along without them for a long time (okay, we did have Panama Canal for too long, but the last two decades without it have managed to limp along).
Trump is like a kid playing war; just grab what you want, because you can. When the game is over, you don’t really have anything more than you had, except bragging rights. When Trump’s game is over, he plans to have everything and the rest of the world – including those who voted for him – to have nothing.
Is somebody make Trump eat mashed potatoes? Maybe once he re-occupies the White House and can have as much cake and ice cream as he wants, he’ll stop coveting the rest of the world so vocally.
Once he’s sworn in, how much more of this childishness before Vance starts floating talk of the 25th Ammendment?
I have just seen one of the Fox News airheads informing us that:
“Back in 1867, Democratic President Harry Truman tried to buy Greenland”
That gaffe seems to be getting a lot of press at the moment. It looks like she got the year wrong. Truman did offer Denmark $100 million for Greenland, but that was in 1946.
