The ACLU hates women
Argh. Genevieve Gluck has a thread on the ACLU and its hatred of women, and it’s hard going. Highly informative but painful to read.
The first tweet is cut off, so I’ll just quote it.
The @ACLU hates women and is led by a gay man: a thread. One of the most powerful lobby groups in the United States pushing “gender identity” policies is the ACLU. Currently, the organization is leading the legal fight to place violent men, including sadistic killers and rapists, into women’s prisons. The executive director since 2001 is Anthony Romero. In the past the organization defended NAMBLA, asserted that child pornography is free speech, defended child marriage, took money from pornographers, and argued that sex trafficking is “work.”
The ACLU should be required to change its name. This evil shit has nothing to do with civil liberties.
I could swear there was a time when the ACLU wasn’t evil. Was that just partisan myth?
I think it’s the case that the ACLU has always been extreme. Up until now, however, that extremism was usually in defense of a laudable goal. You might not agree with their decision to defend the rights of Nazis marching in Skokie, but you could at least follow their line of reasoning from First Amendment rights.
On the trans debate, though, the core principle is no longer a carefully considered principle, but a pair of hashtags (the new bumper sticker of politics): “Trans Women Are Women” and “You’re Trans If You Say You’re Trans”. If you accept these two notions, then their positions on these cases makes sense. If, OTOH, you regard them as self-evident absurdities, then the ACLU’s positions become dire farce.
Why is anybody at all surprised? Many gay men support “trans rights” because a great many gay men are misogynists. It has always been so. And their misogyny is inclusive, they despise both straight and lesbian women.
There are also a great many gay men, men I follow on Xwitter like Dennis Noel Kavanagh (@Jebadoo2) who are not misogynists and are very supportive of women’s rights.
There is also a lot of misandry in some Lesbian groups. Again, not all Lesbians, but more than enough to see a pattern.
And this is why it has been so easy for the QUILTBAGs to invade and colonise L & G groups and create the forced teaming resulting in LGBTQI2S+++
Freemage: Your description of the ACLU as always extreme but in some sense on the right side reminds me of the climax of the Masterpiece Theater special God on Trial. A group of Jews in a concentration camp put God on trial for breaking the Covenant; i.e., breach of contract. Just before the tribunal renders its decision, a rabbi known as “the living Torah” stands and makes a powerful case, saying, “God is not good. He has simply been strong. He has simply been on our side.”
The whole thing is worth watching, but that scene in particular stands out as brilliant writing and acting.
