He said what???
The prime minister has said people should not be criminalised “for stating simple facts on biology” in response to JK Rowling’s criticism of Scotland’s new hate crime law.
Cue global gasps. What can he mean?? People should be beheaded for such an outrage.
The author took to social media to
hit out atcriticize the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act which came into effect on Monday.
Seriously, Beeb – stop that. Stop calling dissent you dislike “hitting out at.” It’s childish at best. Some metaphors are best left on the cutting room floor.
In a series of social media posts, Ms Rowling described several transgender women as men, including convicted prisoners, trans activists and other public figures.
What do you mean “described as”? Of course they’re men. That’s what “transgender” means in that sentence.
The prime minister would not be drawn on whether he supported her approach, saying that it was “not right for me to comment on police matters, individual matters”. But he added: “We should not be criminalising people saying common sense things about biological sex, clearly that isn’t right.”
Well, apologies for agreeing with a Tory, but it can’t be helped.
I know how you feel. Nowadays I often myself agreeing what people on the right say and despising what people who claim to be on the left say. The trans nonsense is perhaps the most prominent example.
Unless Rishi Sunak is.enough of a Tory to have delivered his message with the requisite level of RP smugness it probably doesn’t count :-)
Left doesn’t mean right, and Right doesn’t mean wrong.
Well Tories aren’t Republicans; may not be as true but used to be that most Democrats were mildly to the right of most members of the Conservative party. I find it pretty telling that Republicans don’t know what a woman is anymore than the goblins do, it’s just that they don’t think men can be women.
BKiSA, pretty sure that Republicans know women are female. It’s just that many of them also believe femaleness entails a whole bunch of stuff it actually doesn’t. (And the same for maleness, of course.)
But then, even many Democrats apparently have just as many pernicious beliefs, as shown by their receptiveness to Genderist claims regarding womanfeels. They’ve just done a better job of hiding their sexism.
I’d love to know who foisted on us the idea that calling Dylan Mulvaney and Jordan Gray “women” somehow contributes to a fair and egalitarian society. Same with allowing violent men into women’s prisons, or stuffing gay and disabled teenagers full of Lupron.
Nullius, in my view the Republicans know women are female in the way many people know that freezers make things cold. Which is to say it’s true but they think “coldness” is real.
