That’s pragmatism?
Labour continues to be confused about what the word “woman” means.
And while a proud socialist, [Angela Rayner] is clear that first and foremost she’s a pragmatist. “Ideology never put food on my table,” is one of her top lines. Another: “We can’t fix everything overnight.” She has also said she is “hardline” on law and order, and pro-security (her brother served in Iraq). When I ask how Labour will handle the accusation from Tories that “Keir doesn’t know what a woman is”, she says, without acknowledging any shift, “Yeah, sure. We have biological women and we have trans women. And they’re both women: one is a biological woman through sex, and one is a trans woman who has transitioned. Most of the public can get that.”
Ok then, we have two kinds of Angela Rayner: one who is biological and one who has transitioned.
We have two kinds of everything: one that is real, and one that is just assertion.
Most of the public can repeat lies if they’re bullied hard enough, but that’s not quite the same as genuinely believing the lies.
So let’s get this straight. There are women who are women because of biology, and people (DON’T YOU DARE CALL THEM “MEN!!!”) who aren’t women because of biology, who are also women. How exactly do they do this? Through shear force of will, or just the right shade of lipstick? How can both groups be women? Please explain. Use small words and speak slowly, because I might be too stupid to follow along; God knows i haven’t even managed to follow you this far. On second thought, word choice might not really matter, because you seem to have completely severed the ties between words and meanings.
I truly believe that deep in the heart of the tortured language and logic of gender lunacy, amidst the incorrect pronouns and Doublethink, there lies buried the basis of a modern take on “Who’s on First?”

Yeah, that’s gonna work real good. You’re just showing that you don’t know what a woman is either. You’ve extended his own ignorance/reluctance to the entire party. There’s no amount of wishful thinking or transubstantiation that will let you have this cake and eat it too. Maybe for your next trick you’ll invent a perpetual motion machine that really works, unlike all the other ones that came before.
You’re hoping that there are enough people who don’t know bullshit when they see it (or are too polite to call it such) that you won’t lose at the polls. You’re cynically counting on the “What are they going to do, vote Tory?” dilemma, rather than making an actual decision and taking an actual stand. Ideology never put food on your table? That’s kinda funny, because you’re expecting it to put votes in the ballot box.
I’m pretty sure she meant, “Most people can learn to just shut the fuck up.”
Alternatively, “Most people will say that the emperor’s new clothes are breathtakingly exquisite.”
I feel like Rayner is redefining pragmatic while she’s redefining women.
