Issa biological issue
[Edit: Sorry, I seem to have forgotten to include the source!]
Oh Jeeezus christ.
This is just reducing a really serious issue to –
Interviewer tells him to answer the question.
Well look, everybody knows there’s a difference between sex and gender, and I absolutely understand that, and respect that, we will not be going down the road of self-identification –
Interviewer asks “Are trans women women?”
Well look Harry –
Interviewer says “It’s a fair comment, it’s a fair question.”
Look…forrrrrrr…as you well know, the overwhelming majority of women, it’s a biological issue, it’s an issue that is absolutely central
Interviewer interjects with something about percentages.
There are some people, there’s a small number of people in this country who are born into a gender they don’t identify with.
End of clip.
Yo, sir, what if there’s a small number of people in this country who identify as Keir Starmer? You gonna let them all sleep in your bed with you?
What he’s trying to avoid saying is that there’s a small number of women who have penises. He can’t help it that it sounds a lot stupider when put into plain words. He can help it that he believes this is true, or, more damning still, that he believes he must act as if this true. He can’t decide if ending the pretense will cost him more support than if he continues it. I’d say that potentially alienating half the electorate to placate an ill-defined percentage of genderists and their supporters classifies this as a luxury belief, because it’s going to cost him.
Cognitive dissonance is real.
He is definitely in a bind.
YNnB:
Not as much as it would cost the country if the ridiculous beliefs and claims of the identifarians lose Labour the votes they need to oust the Conservatives at the next election. Talk about being between the Devil and the deep blue sea. Do women hold their noses and vote for the party that could strip them of their rights because it appears to be committed to Team Trans, or do they abstain from voting and leave the Tories in power to carry on screwing us all? I wouldn’t blame the women if they chose the latter option.
No matter what word games he is playing now to try to keep women in the party or pacified, he is going to stick a knife into the back of those same women the second he gets back into power.
It may well be that the general public is a great deal less concerned with Barbie Cardassian than how ridiculous the Tories are (if polling is to be believed). I dare say fifty percent of the population doesn’t identify as women the way some of y’all do. They are women, certainly, but it isn’t their identity.
