Legal protection from WHAT?
Oh good lord. Do play the clip to see reeking oozing entitlement in action. Large pallid man whose accent rivals that of Choss Windsor in poshitude bleats about being “misgendered” in court because listen here he’s not a “he” he’s nonbinareeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Bonus: the “microaggression” ploy.
Dude looks like a
ladydude. All the aggression, micro or otherwise, is entirely in the other direction.
You put “Mx. Oscar Davies” as your screen name, and expect normal people — who know that there are only 2 sexes — to know (1) that your precious “Mx” means something Super Speshul & Non-binary, and (2) how to pronounce the unpronounceable, aside from its utter meaninglessness.
Decisions, decisions! Wig! Same for everyone! Gown! Same for everyone! Gee, should I wear wing collar and bands, or collarette? Tiny, tiny difference, almost imperceptible ! What a first world luxury dilemma! Making a mountain out of that molehill is YOUR aggression toward everyone else for not
paying you special homage, Your Non-Binariness.
What a clown.
“…to be respected for your existence, it shouldn’t have to be a tiring exercise.”
No one disputes your existence you silly catastrophist, we disagree with the language change you are expecting from us.
Good point maddog, and to add to it: this man has power over most of the people interacting with him in trial. The pressure he exerts is backed by that power, and must cause in some people the worry that disagreement may cause him to view their conduct with disfavour, possibly causing real punishment.
“Help I’m being oppressed. Lawyers wigs are none-binary so they prevent me from displaying my special non-binariness”
To add to maddog (not that it needed much, if anything): if you go out of your way to call attention to yourself for something that isn’t really a difference (we are all non-binary in gender expression, you git; we are all binary in sex), you should plan for the possibility that some of the attention will be negative.
I actually think ‘they’ loves it when ‘they’ is misgendered. More attention, first, but also, a chance to get attention from a broader audience. Also, it affirms their delusion that they are the most marginalized minority ever. Trans is all about affirmation. But even more than that, it’s all about being the center of attention.
Good point. “You misgendered me”=”you’re thinking about me.”
I think it’s partly about power. “I can get you punished, and I can make you grovel and apologize to me. No matter what you do, you’ll be somehow wrong, so I can be outraged and make your life miserable on my behalf.”
“TEACHER SAYS YOU HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO ME.”
Which is one reason J. K. Rowling infuriates them so much. She refuses to grovel, and she refuses to be miserable.
I thing ‘Mx’ must be pronounced ‘mix’, as in ‘all mixed up’.
