I watched this scene again yesterday evening (not the whole movie; I came in late) and it struck me how like Trump Colonel Jessup is. Not as flabby and laughable, of course, but every bit as enraged and murderous.
Damn, that scene is legendary but I’d forgotten how good the acting was.
In fiction the main villain is escorted out of court in handcuffs for breaking the law.
In reality he gets to make the laws (that don’t apply to him anyway), appoint his own judges, and pardon himself if need be.
