Oops sorry film is off
Speaking of rights, and violations of same –
The screening of a controversial film about transgender issues has been cancelled for a second time by the University of Edinburgh after student protests.
Gender-critical documentary Adult Human Female was due to be shown at a lecture hall in George Square on Wednesday. But the university said protestors were restricting access to the venue and the event was cancelled on safety grounds. A similar protest in December stopped the first attempt to screen the film.
Adult Human Female, made by independent filmmakers Deirdre O’Neill and Mike Wayne, is billed as an “explainer about the issues, how far things have already changed for the worse for women and how difficult it has been to be heard, to be listened to”. Some university staff and student groups had called for the screening to be called off, claiming the documentary contained content that was “a clear attack on trans people’s identities”.
I wonder what would happen if they all identified as Tucker Carlson.
In the current climate it was shameful the first time around that the University didn’t anticipate the need for proper security. That the second time around they have repeated the mistake and apparently followed a course of appeasement by allowing protestors into the venue rather than clearing a safe route says they have no interest or intention of protecting discourse, academic freedom, or rational debate. That’s a long way to fall for a university that first admitted women in 1869. Then again, it sounds like they weren’t welcome.

I finally watched it. https://adulthumanfemale.info/
Holy shit.
And that last line:
“Women are generally very accommodating. But we put a line down. And then we will not fucking move.”
I saw a video in which a woman outside is trying to get through the line of protesters to see the film. She explains that she has the human right to go where she pleases and someone who appears to be event security tells her to stop doing that.
TIRF= Trans – Inclusive – Radical – Fuckwit
Oh, I had no idea it was available online. I watched the whole thing; definitely worth it. But what is it with the two loud beeps interrupting Simon Edge towards the end, at about 1:29:54? Sounds like those beeps you hear on American TV when someone says “fucking”, only louder. Funny thing, I can’t imagine him saying anything that would need censoring at that point. And besides, there was an uncensored “fucking” later on.
I find this bit to be illustrative:
“You don’t need a movie to show you how women are silenced, we’ll give you a live demonstration.”
With new science and articles coming about how there is no support for the idea that “transitioning” is a guarantee against suicide, it’s more vital than ever for trans activists to squelch any opposition or debate. The word must not get out, or people will catch on.
Gays and lesbians see a future in which the conservatives who already think they are filthy sinners have the upper hand because of transactivism, and American women are stuck with legislatures like North Dakota to pass bills to protect children against affirmation-only treatments while at the same time passing further restrictions on abortion. Every time I feel like I’m seeing a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel, that this heinous ideology is finally coming to an end, I realize that the light I see is an oncoming train from the other direction.
Well, they’re not wrong, because those identities are bullshit.
Everyone must be forced to agree that men can be women. Nobody is allowed to say “No, they can’t.” Women are saying “No.” That’s the “attack.”
“Every time I feel like I’m seeing a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel, that this heinous ideology is finally coming to an end, I realize that the light I see is an oncoming train from the other direction.”
Truth. Well put.
The film really brought home to me how women bear the brunt of this.
As a man, I have nothing to fear from trans men. Because women are not a threat!
And that really says something.
Women, though, have a lot to be concerned about.
@#5
he is talking about 2 persons
(“… to have some of the people, the most aggressive, the most influential people, who are in the forefront of reassuring their followers – looking at you ######, looking at you ##### – that these things are safe, that there is no damage, I think there should be a reckoning for those people.”)
does anyone know/could guess who they are?
Oh, thanks, soogeeoh!
I got so distracted by the beeps, I couldn’t even make out the words in between and around them. I suppose someone is afraid of being sued. That really says something, right there.
