The prime of Mr Don Lemon
Good grief.
Men are in their prime forever, women only for a few years. You don’t like it? Talk to the science.
The CNN anchor Don Lemon will return to his regular morning-show role on Wednesday, the network announced late Monday night, after an uproar over a series of comments he made on the air last week about women and aging.
Women do it earlier and worse. That’s just how it is; look it up!
Mr. Lemon will be absent from Tuesday’s broadcast of “CNN This Morning,” where he last appeared on Thursday, shortly after asserting on the air that Nikki Haley, the 51-year-old Republican presidential candidate, “isn’t in her prime, sorry.” He went on to say that “a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”
“Prime” meaning what? Clearly fuckability, but presidential candidates aren’t candidates for fucking, they’re candidates for political office.
After his co-anchor Poppy Harlow pushed back, Mr. Lemon responded, “I’m just saying what the facts are,” and urged her to “Google it.”
Ah yes the facts – the facts that men don’t want to fuck women over 39. What else do you need to know?
I googled how old Hillary Clinton was when she ran for president in 2016, arguably her political prime. Turns out Nikki Haley is a relative youngster. CNN has been disappointing lately.
I’m trying really hard to find a plausible interpretation that doesn’t reduce to fuckability, but somehow I keep failing.
Perhaps Amy Schumer needs to come out with a short about women’s last viable day for politics.
I guess she lacks the vigorous youthfulness of our previous two presidents.
Two things astonished me about this.
1. Don’t they every learn?
2. It was such a weak point. Her sex is a problem, yes, but the problem isn’t that she’s an old woman. The problem is that she is a female Republican, and the Republican party is not going to nominate a woman for president. Lemon could have made that much stronger observation and taken credit for the insight.
What would a gay guy know about women and their fuckability anyway? There are some things that one has to take with a grain of salt, political correctness be damned.
zoombats, gay men are well aware of the so-called ‘prime’ of women. Many of them also share the straight man’s disgust for old women.
51 would not be past the prime for anything else; in fact, when you think about taking on a responsible job like president, it is the prime of life. Such jobs require knowledge and experience few of us (women or men) have in our 20s or 30s. By the 40s we are possibly there, but adding that additional 10 years of experience only moves you that much closer.
For being president, Nikki Haley is not old. She is young. It is only because she is a woman that someone would say she is old, and the only reason that would be is that, in the opinion of (some) men, she is no longer desirable.
