Arrested development
This guy is a psychiatrist, an assistant professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at The University of California San Francisco.
I guess I’m a man then. Short hair, gender-noncommittal T shirts or turtlenecks instead of strappy sundresses, no necklace, no earrings, no lipstick, no perm – zap, I’m a guy.
This adult academic psychiatrist is obsessed with the dopy meaningless cartoon.
Is the transwoman supposed to be “romantically/sexually” attracted to the transman as a woman? Because that invalidates the transman. Doesn’t it?
As a man, I guess? Because if the symbols are on your forehead they’re your identity but if they’re outside your head they’re attraction? I guess? Anyway it’s science.
I’ve never seen the Venus symbol without the crossbar — I guess the cartoonist is using that for “agender” or some shit?
I can’t help but notice which one is taller than the other. So height does still register as a sex stereotype for this cartoonist.
So …
“Gender identity” is all in your head. Completely undetectable and unverifiable.
“Gender expression” is wearing stereotypical clothes and hairstyles, i.e., completely unfixed and alterable at a moment’s notice.
Romantic attraction is conflated with sexual (not gender) orientation, when they may be different things.
I wonder if the man in a dress who is attracted to men will be pilloried if it really is a sexual orientation, i.e., solely attracted to men with penises.
Sex is not “assigned at birth.” It’s observed and recorded. Sex is immutable. No matter what the fantasy people imagine themselves to be, and no matter what drastic measures they take to alter their appearance, it is only appearances that change. Sex never changes. Yet that’s the golden ticket Ts chase after: To alter the birth certificate, so that it lies about the person’s sex. Altering facts, to falsify public vital statistics, is just one among many travesties perpetrated by the LARPTQIA++ pretenders. I can’t stand it.
Not terribly surprising to me that it’s a psychiatrist gushing over this inanity. (Auto correct wants to put “insanity.” Still appropriate.) Those people are loopy. According to popular stereotype, psychiatrists and psychologists choose that profession because they need help themselves. They are too accepting of whatever patients tell them.
I have sometimes fantasized about what strategy I would use in picking a jury if I ever conducted a jury trial. One factor I would take into consideration was whether a juror was a psychologist. IMO, they are trained to accept the most ludicrous things at face value, or not to challenge them directly, to accommodate actual crazy people they may have as clients. I would use my peremptory challenges to excuse psychologists for that reason: they are too accepting of BS.
@5: I love that you used ” LARPTQIA++”!
Oh, and “travesty”! You know the etymology of the word?
Where does that leave me? I have long hair, but never wear strappy undresses, though the pants I wear are cut for women. I do wear earrings sometimes, but no perm, no lipstick…
I guess I must be non-binary?
The white person is a bisexual woman, the black person is a gay man.
GW, the red headed woman is attracted to women, men, and lollipops.
Still needs some equations though. I’ll give it a go:
Ok, so it all comes out as 0 + 0 – 0 – 0 + 0, but there are sines and cosines and tangents and logarithms and square roots and Greek letters and stuff! #science
Oh, look! It’s so scientific that the ♀ turned pink and the ♂ turned blue all by themselves! An obvious testimony (in retrospect) to the predictive power of the equation! #pseudoscienceisscience #itsinthename
Yet again we have the alleged sex/gender distinction turning into a pile of mush, with the same symbols used to indicate sex and gender identity. Maybe some day I’ll understand why those who think this distinction is super important also seem inclined to blur the boundaries between the two concepts.
Yeah, I don’t know, he looks pretty smitten with that woman with the short red hair…
Ophelia,
I feel compelled to [even if some people hate that phrase] say that I understood the significance of stereotypical “masculine” and “feminine” accessories somehow signifying an innate, inborn “gender” and the ridiculousness of that way of thinking. Plus that a psychiatrist would find such drivel to be something for serious thinking.
But what immediately leapt out at me was the transwoman seemingly expressing romantic [and/or] sexual attraction to the transman as if the transman was a woman.
Because TRA’s have obliterated the meanings of words such as man, woman, sex, gender, it’s difficult to explain things effectively. But it really looks as if the cartoonist has committed a terrible faux-pas. They could seriously be brought up on charges by the gender-cultists and be convicted of misgendering, invalidation, refusal to see, and, perhaps even “genocide.”
What jumped out first to me is how non-plussed the children appear with their birth certificates.
I guess that’s how you know they’re special, unlike all those basic kids who haven’t ever thought twice about their birth certificates.
And also wtf is the lollipop thing? Is Turban pushing eunuchs now?
I swear that somewhere in that antedeluvian world that went unarchived prior to the birth of the Internet I at least heard of, if not saw, a cartoon that depicted an office door bearing the message “Child Psychiatrist. Gone for Din Dins”.
Skeletor’s nailed it: these are two heterosexuals pretending to be something more way-out and cool. Quite a giveaway. And Turban hasn’t even noticed.
