Cringeworthy
Hmmmm. Who has a cringeworthy desperation to be edgy? Who wants to be considered dangerous, rebellious and exciting? As opposed to self-involved, dim, and pseudo-radical?
I really don’t think it’s feminist women who refuse to agree that men are women if they say they are.
Haha, oh yeah, the mockable irony. Laurie Penny accusing other people of possessing a “desperation to be edgy”.
Good grief, I’m an old white guy with a middle-class job, I couldn’t be less edgy if I tried. But then, I’ve never felt a need to die my hair red, espouse nonsensical social beliefs, or display my personal life in public, so what do I know on the subject. Maybe Penny can advice me.
Well, I never thought it would happen. Someone refers to me as conservative. My father would be proud.
I don’t really know where Tufton Street is, but I may as well enjoy having an address there.
Gimme a D! Gimme an A! Gimme an R! Gimme a… Oh, you know the rest.
Laurie, the last time your haircut was edgy, “Gladiator” was tops at the box office.

“For Penny, however, activism is not organising with others to change the world, so much as it is changing your own feelings… There is no sense here of why women’s oppression exists, except perhaps that some old, white men are nasty.”
