I wouldn’t mind International Pronouns Day so much if it was actually, you know, INTERNATIONAL. I love nerding out over words, and it would be interesting to learn about how pronouns (third-person personal and otherwise) work in different languages. Instead it’s just the same boring anglophone hegemony and how to grovel to people who are Specialer Than You.
Miscellany room 8 died – long live miscellany room 9! And I have a great video to put on it regarding the BBC neutrality drama spreading to Australia’s ABC.
If I had more time (and brain cells) to spare at the moment, I’d put together a rewrite of the lyrics to George Harrison’s “I Me Mine.” It’s so close already.
In honor of International Pronoun Day, I’d like to celebrate Clusivity. How many times has this happened to you–you’re speaking to someone, and you use a first person plural pronoun, and it’s not clear to your interlocutor if they’re included or not? Well, with Clusivity, you can rectify that. You get your choice of inclusive first person plural pronouns–including your interlocutor!–or exclusive first person pronouns! Learn them! Use them!*
*Available only in select languages. Consult a grammar book or your own intuition to see if it applies to your language(s).

We could have International Verbs Day, International Adjectives Day, International Conjunctions Day – it would be interesting.
I/me/my seem to have missed it.
Is there ANY day, week, or month that hasn’t been colonized and appropriated by the gender ideninny lobby?

Oh yeah, how about I actually link it

What pronouns do I use?
All of ’em.
I’ll follow De La Soul and use “Me, Myself and I”.
Here’s to International Gerunds Day! Now maybe people will understand what a gerund is?
My U.S. employer is noting this brand-new made-up day and even offering training, which is thankfully voluntary. It’s so much rainbow-washing, really.

All through the day
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
All through the night
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
Now they’re frightened of leaving it
Everyone’s reading it
Comin’ on strong all the time
All through the day
I me mine
I me me mine, I me me mine
I me me mine, I me me mine
All I can hear
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
Even those tears
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
No one’s frightened of playing it
Everyone’s saying it
Flowing more freely than wine
All through the day
I me mine
I me me mine, I me me mine
I me me mine, I me me mine
All I can hear
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
Even those tears
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
No one’s frightened of playing it
Everyone’s saying it
Flowing more freely than wine
All through your life
I me mine

ASK
No.
RESPECT
Sure, whatever, probably, just to be polite, as long as it’s understood this doesn’t grant transwomen a pass to women’s bathrooms and sports…
PRACTICE
Lol, no.
Mike,
Hobbes knows.
My Pronoun Day tree is up and decorated with rainbow garlands and dangling participles!
YNNB, will you lead us in some pronoun carols?
Will there be a You Log?
Ha!
