Fake disgusted

The fucking nerve of that guy. THEY aren’t going to be haunted by that photo. THEY aren’t the ones who showed horrendous sportsmanship. The one who should be haunted by the photo is Lia Thomas, fraud and cheat, but he probably won’t be.
Of course it makes sense for Rhys McKinnon aka Veronica Ivy to take this view, given his photo gallery.

I hope history is really, really unkind to the cult.
I think the ersatz ethicist has this backwards. The young ladies will be proud of this photo for the rest of their lives. The ones it may haunt are the big fakes.
Imagine one person says to another — You will never have a chance to take this back; this will haunt you for the rest of your life. You made a very unwise choice.
That would sound like a very creepy threat. As Stewie said on Family Guy,
The photo of the three women together might not be as indicative of subversion and resistance to the party line as we’d wish it was. From one version I’ve come across, the three women together have competed together in the past and were having a quick, impromptu, unofficial “reunion” photo after the “official” one with Thomas had already been taken. Also, apparently, two of the women in that photo have/had posted online support for Thomas’s participation. Still, it’s telling that the photo is being presented as a signal of resistance to the imposed orthodoxy, even by those, like McKinnon, toeing the line.
Oh well.
I know, I saw several people say that yesterday. It’s still a stark visual though.
I was very surprised McKinnon deleted the tweet, but maybe if the photo wasn’t a protest then that explains why, since there was now nothing worth complaining about.
As Ophelia indicates, regardless of intent that photo has come to represent the sad state of affairs in women’s sports. If it turns out to have been an accident, that’ll just be a footnote to the story at this point.
