So if a perpetrator
Labour woman MP says what now?
But…he doesn’t, does he. He didn’t. That’s the point, surely. Not that “if he did, he would be,” but that “He didn’t, because that’s not how this works.” Raping and murdering women is about women, it’s not about women and men who pretend to be women. What the Wayne Couzenses and the Peter Sutcliffes and the rest of them hate is women, not women and men who wear makeup.
How can Stella Creasy not understand that?
I can’t even parse her sentences.
Well, she is a politician, and maybe to a politician, taking a public position on any issue is what looks right and proper, and conveys the impression that she is doing something. Maybe also the one she has taken is about the easiest to take, and with the least traps and complications down the road; for her.
Keeping up appearances is a big part of the politician game, while at the same time keeping a maximum of bases covered in front of a constituency with a broad range of expectations within it.
Plenty of ‘perpetrators’ murder men. How is that misogyny?
Wayne Couzens attacked trans identified males as part of his pattern of offending? I don’t remember that part being mentioned anywhere.
The only article I could find was a drag performer (described as he/him) saying that Couzens crudely propositioned him in a club. It included unwanted touching so an assault. The article doesn’t describe the performer as trans and the implication was that they had a male partner also present that night.
“If.”
There are some people that hate / scorn / are disgusted by men that dress as women and perform womanhood, but it does no one any good to pretend that is the same thing as hating the female sex. Just as it is no good pretending that men dressing as and performing womanhood are women.
Holms @6, quite. It speaks much more to homophobia, which is misogyny’s ugly cousin. Another child of patriarchy.
The Mirror first reported, and others picked up, a story that Couzens hit on a drag queen. Pink News, alone among outlets sharing the story, changed the pronouns used to refer to the drag queen to a mix of “she/her” and “they/them.” The drag queen told Couzens to fuck off and that was the end of it.
Too bad it isn’t so easy for women.
