Girl Guides & kink
Mridul Wadhwa is such an inspiration to ambitious men who claim to be women.
Girl Guide’s U.K outfit has faced its fair share of scrutiny in recent years over its “inclusive” policies allowing males to join the organization, but recent revelations show a biological male has now taken a senior position with the girl’s group.
Monica Sulley, a male who identifies as a woman, became the lead Commissioner for the Southwell division of Girl Guides U.K, known there as Girlguiding, in July of this year.
Sulley’s appointment came on the heels of a female Girlguiding leader being expelled from the organization on the basis of her beliefs that girls should not be forced to shower or share tents with males who identify as women. Helen Watts had been a supporting member of the Guides for over 15 years prior to being sacked due to her views.
So that’s a job that should have gone to a woman, but didn’t.
Women’s rights-concerned users on social media have expressed upset over Sulley’s appointment, with some noting that Sulley was taking a position from an actual woman. But many have also begun to notice some disturbing posts Sulley has made on his social media accounts – including him posing with weapons, and him dressed in bondage gear, calling himself “Mistress.”
A porn-sick Girl Guides official – what a good idea.
I don’t care if people like to dress in bondage gear and whip their bollocks. Not really my business. I do think that people who display their proclivities to do so publicly possibly raise questions over their impulse control as much as anything else, and that alone should bring their fitness to be around girls into question.
I found the picture of Sulley wearing (pseudo?) tactical gear particularly disturbing. Maybe they were imagining themselves as Lara Croft getting ready to go tomb raiding. then again, maybe they see themselves as a brave hero defending queer rights and about to go TERF hunting. Who knows. The side arm strapped to the thigh and the military style assault weapon * really made me feel that I had no desire to be anywhere near that person ever.
* If it wasn’t an assault rifle it was doing an adequate job of identifying as one.
Oh, Rob, you must have missed the memo. Being kinky is an identity now, and therefore a matter of pride to be celebrated openly and validated by all right thinking woke folk.
You are obviously sex negative, cisheteronormative, and all kinds of phobic, and you should feel bad.
If he is booted, I suspect the reason given will not be that he is a man, but the inappropriateness of those social media posts. Much easier to invoke that reason than step into the issue of trans women being male.
I care a lot less about the photographs (although the gun one disturbed me) than about the fact that he presumably does want to erode boundaries. Grooming, as I like to call it. And in an institution which should, I’d have thought, be teaching girls about boundaries, how to assert them and how to protect them.
Re grooming, i am reminded of Jessica Taylor’s excellent essay from last year about how our definition of grooming in too narrow. I don’t think there’s any question that Sulley’s behavior falls within the scope; a lot of other behavior can (and probably should) also be considered grooming.
latsot, it’s really hard to tell from those photos whether the guns are real or fakes, but I thought the UK had reasonably restrictive gun laws now. If those are real, how easy would they be to obtain and what sort of character test would be required to hold the appropriate licence?
Sackbut, quite. My sister was a Guide for several years and I worked with a woman who was a senior Guide leader. Wonderful, strong, and capable person. Her group was all about teaching girls physical, outdoor and emotional skills. Instilling them with confidence based on capability and knowledge. They were really strong on using women as leaders and coaches to emphasise the concept that the girls could learn the required skills. For some outdoor training where additional or specialist help was required, they would allow males, but always had them in subsidiary roles, largely non-contact. Basically additional eyes and help if needed in an emergency. Where a male had a skill they needed, they’d run training. courses for women leaders until they were proficient to teach. It was impressive.
