One notable exception
Ingratitude thou marble-hearted fiend.
The cast and crew of the Harry Potter movies are coming together for a reunion, with one notable exception – the author, JK Rowling.
HBO Max announced on Tuesday it would bring together the cast members from all eight Harry Potter films for a retrospective special entitled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts.
The release said it would feature stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint – who have not made a public appearance together since the premiere of the last premiere of the franchise, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2, in July 2011, as well as filmmaker Chris Columbus, who directed the blockbuster film.
The Mail doesn’t say whose decision it was that Rowling won’t be there.
I just can’t trust what the Mail says about anything, they’re so sensationalistic and unreliable.
Anna,
How about The Washington Post?
The Mail article is quite reasonable and accurate. The subhead re the “main villain” in the book being a “man in a dress” is an inaccurate rendering of an inaccurate statement from a reviewer. The suspect in question (one of several) sometimes put on a dress as a disguise. Overall I’d say the treatment of trans-identified males in the Cormoran Strike books is rather supportive and positive; that character was not trans.
I meant to note that the quote from the reviewer is correctly described in the article, it’s just the subhead that’s wrong.
I think that Rowling is not obligated to invite the 3 to the opening of Fantastic Beasts 3
The silver lining is that the efforts to cancel JKR or her accomplishments have been wholly unsuccessful. The HBO special is proof of same. She doesn’t need to be there, and the little hypocrites who popped off against her but didn’t bother to understand her position will now go bask in the glory she provided for them. JKR is much bigger than trans cult activism in many ways. Notice how the actors didn’t decline to participate on principle, HBO called and they jumped. Priorities I guess? So if I decide to watch this, I will feel a certain contempt for the little shits who unjustly bit the hand that fed them. I liked them better when they were naive young actors who did a good job portraying the characters that they inhabit now in perpetuity, and I won’t deny them that, but here in the real world today, 20 years later, they have become ignorant ingrates.
Of course, there is now attempted cancellation of The Three Ingrates, even though they intoned the mantra and ritually sacrificed JKR. They are being yelled at by the usual sort of suspect just for appearing in this show. The reasoning behind it is…..unclear….. except for the fact that nothing is ever good enough for the trans cult.
Well, they have to have some kind of hobby.
Afshan Azad (who played Padma Patil in the HP films) did give credit to JKR:

It may or may not be relevant that Azad is a survivor of domestic violence (her father and brother assaulted her as punishment for dating a Hindu boy).
