SBM won’t correct the falsehood
Wow. Years of collaboration just torched as if they had never been.
They WHAT??
First, the claim:
Next, the email:
Is it August 2015 again? The echo is strong. There were three SBM editors and Hall was one of them, but suddenly a minor contributor becomes “an editor” to bolster the Gorski-Novella excuses for plunging the knife into Hall’s back.
This is making me sick. I love SBM and have been reading it for years.
Say It ain’t so, Dave.
It’s frightening how many people who previously demonstrated high levels of competence and had integrity are just rolling over and playing dead on this. How many are willing to lie and make shit up just to dance to the trans tune. It’s astonishing how they’ve achieved this.
If LGB hadn’t let them add the T, things might be a lot different. They would have to do their own work, not have Stonewall and other former gay rights groups throwing their own missions out the window to play all trans all the time.
They call this being “politically neutral and a reliable source of information about the relevant science”? Sounds like they’ve picked a side and are using motivated reasoning to back its claims, just like any pusher of snake oil. They have torched not only years of collaboration with Hall, but their own reputations.
Hope those woke cookies are worth the price you’ve paid. Funny, you’re the ones paying, but you’ve also been bought. Be prepared to dance harder and longer to keep your new masters happy. You might think you’re being rewarded for supporting affirmation, and validation, but you’ve really just signed yourselves up for submission.
Speaking of self appointed representatives of Science & Reason™ spouting bullshit, watch Neil deGrasse Tyson tie himself in knots to avoid giving a straightforward answer in this cringe-worthy performance:

Someone on Sean Carroll’s (another person I used to think rather highly of who has drunk the Kool-Aid) podcast once used the following familiar (to some of us) situation to illustrate Harry Frankfurt’s concept of “Bullshit”; Imagine you’re back at school, you haven’t done your homework, and of course the teacher had to pick you to explain the topic of the assignment before the class. So you start desperately improvising a story, trying to guess roughly what the assignment was about, talking in generalities, biding your time, and hoping that nobody calls your bluff. That’s exactly what this feels like.
So the followup reviews of Shrier’s book after the retraction of Hall’s review are “politically neutral?” Like these ones? >>

https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/irreversible-damage-to-the-trans-community-a-critical-review-of-abigail-shriers-book-irreversible-damage-part-one/

How are these reviews any more politically neutral than Hall’s review? Also, any article that is about a politically charged subject will never be entirely politically neutral, like the mask issue, which they also have several articles about. If they are trying to do a balancing act, then they are failing miserably. It’s a dishonest claim, just like the medical ones they claim to “explore.”
If you want to know someone’s ideological bias, pay attention to what they’re trying to pass off as the “unpolitical”, “non-ideological” position.
Ugh. I managed 7 minutes and 43 seconds of that video, Posie is easy to listen to, Neil Tyson not so much.
They probably don’t realize it, but they are taking Fox New’s “Fair and Balanced” approach to its own level. It also raises the question: If I have had a few letters to the editor published in the local paper, does that make me an editor? If so, I would like to have the George Will column removed for being nonsense.
It’s a modern variant of Editorial Identity Politics: you’re an Editor if someone else thinks of you as being one.
