Challenge with force
Does “with force” mean “with force”?
What views? The usual.
Surrey’s Police and Crime Commissioner has been accused of being transphobic but defended by refuge organisers for women after she criticised LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall.
The campaign group’s vision is that people born male who identify as women should be able to attend women’s prisons and crisis centres, whether or not they have begun to transition.
Attend? One doesn’t “attend” prisons, as if they were meetings of the book group, one is locked up in them, aka imprisoned. That’s part of the problem: there’s no escape. If there’s a man in womanface sharing your cell you can’t get away from him.
Lisa Townsend, who has been the Conservative PCC role for three months, said in an interview for Mail on Sunday that pushing to allow pre-transition trans women in such female-only environments was a “dangerous ideology”.
Pushing to allow any trans women to force themselves on women is a dangerous ideology.
Pride in Surrey said they want to work with the PCC “to educate on the issue of transphobia”, while Surrey councillor George Potter (LD, Guildford East) accused the PCC outright of being transphobic.
But Pride in Surrey also said they wanted to correct the PCC “with force.” Don’t leave that part out. Don’t acquiesce in their bullying.
Marc Jones, chair of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC), came to her defence, saying: “Some services quite simply can’t function in a gender neutral way”, which Reigate MP Crispin Blunt said was an “evidence-free panicked response”.
How easy is it for Crispin Blunt to say that? This easy:
He has less reason to be afraid of being locked up with men than women have. Much less.
What sort of force are they talking about? She can’t count on the police to protect her from their clown cars now, can she?
I don’t think she needs education on transphobia, either. We’ve all had plenty of that, learning to chant “Transwomen are women” in response to any sort of challenge. Crispin Blunt, Tory MP, perhaps thinks he needs more education on the trials and tribulations of transgender and fluid persons, but I think perhaps he needs more education on the trials and tribulations of women who are prisoners or in rape and domestic violence shelters.
Very true, but I suspect you could have stopped after the word women and it would have been equally true.
It seems to me the “evidence free panicked response” is letting men into women’s spaces, which were created for sensible safeguarding reasons; these actions are already well understood to cause harm to women. Maybe instead of panicking and rushing into these policies, they could, I dunno, seek evidence, do careful analysis, consider the effects on all concerned parties, including especially women?
What challenges do trans and gender fluid people encounter that gender nonconforming people don’t, that makes their problems so unique that outsiders can barely grasp them? Gay men and transvestites have been attacked, fired, and refused jobs and housing by bigoted individuals who would make little to no distinction between them and transwomen. GNC women suffer similar problems and humiliations. We can certainly manage to wrap our mind around those too common predicaments.
The peculiar “challenges” being referred to here aren’t human rights violations or acts of violence. They all have to do with the difficulties of trying to pass as the opposite sex. Which makes Blunt’s final complaint irrelevant.
“There are conflicts with women’s rights and safety in situation X because transwomen are not actually women.”
“You shouldn’t say that because you don’t understand how challenging it is for transwomen to be accepted as women.”
“We can’t house Ms. White with the male prison population. She’d be in danger of being assaulted, perhaps killed, because of her transwoman status. It’s best for all concerned if she’s housed in the prison population that aligns with her self-conceived GENDER.”
“I see. What was the crime Ms. White was convicted of?”
“Huh? Oh. She’s a convicted serial rapist. Of cis-women. Anyway, these concerns are hysterical, evidence free panicked response that all have their roots in transphobic bigotry.”
OOOOHH! OOOH!! IKNOW!! PICK ME!!
The answer is: GENOCIDE!!! Trans people have been genocided so much, it’s a wonder there are any left at all! JKR has killed BILLIONSs of them PERSONALLY with HER OWN TWO HANDS! And with some tweets.
Maybe they are going to challenge her with The Force. Everyone loves a Jedi battle. Don’t they?
