A process of dehumanisation
Glinner points out that the “heehee look at us threatening violence” cover of Trans Studies Quarterly – this one –
– is just the latest in a long series. He includes 4 that we’ve all seen many times. There are many many more. Remember these at the San Francisco public library?
Hur hur. Isn’t it interesting that they do this and we don’t yet we’re constantly accused of violence and oppression?
Upside down universe. Ultimate DARVO. I have no idea why this is not crystal clear to everyone. And why it wasn’t slapped down — hard — at the start.
I’m trying to figure out if there could conceivably be some other message here other than “kill the terfs” or “correct pronouns WILL be used.” What’s the context? Does it illustrate a particular article? A monthly theme? “Why street gang members are so often transgender in the closet.” “Trans On Trans Violence: a problem in search of a solution.” “Halloween Issue! Scary Costume Ideas!”
Doesn’t seem likely. Probably more like “Fighting Back Against Transphobia: Time to Defend Our Existence.”
Mayyyybe trying to echo imagery like this?
Except that it doesn’t, but maybe they’re thinking it does.
I’m late on this, but just found a description of what’s inside this journal:

Oh, thanks, that’s a good find.
