Not al all, Holms. The GOP is paying the price for believing in St Ronnie, and when they couldn’t find another corpse to put at 1600 Penn, they allowed the Tea Partiers into the tent. They almost make the George H.W. Bush interegnum look normal.
I cannot begin to enter into the mentality of someone like Lauren Boebert. From the outside, it seems to amount to a cruelly warped and cruel infantility, forged in playground bullying and never let go of, and a total lack of empathy. The woman is psychologically ill.
‘Child,’ she calls David Hogg, a very adult young man who has been through an experience that she should be thankful not to have gone through.
And Kevin McCarthy weakly acquiesces in this sort of behaviour. Perhaps, like Greene, she’ll be given a position on the House Education Committee.
Not that this could get any more appalling, but she ‘identifies’ as a mom. Has anyone thought to ask her how she’d feel if her own kid had been in David Hogg’s situation? Would she treat her own kid this way? (It often seems like the only question that ever works on ‘conservatives’ is ‘what if it were you?’–and it only ever really works, once in a while, when it really is them, or someone they actually care about.)
I must say that McCarthy’s appointment of Marjorie Taylor Greene to the House Education Committee strikes me as a peculiarly sick joke, in the light of her enjoyment of remarks about the Parkland shooting being staged and her harassment of David Hogg. But I suspect that McCarthy is simply too dim and humourless to recognise what it looks like.
I can’t imagine why someone who lived through one of the most infamous mass shootings in American history, as a child, would retreat when confronted on the street by a woman with a gun.

And yet it was them three weeks ago, and they just want to pretend that nothing happened.
Ha that is a really good point–people used to say ‘what if it were a bunch of little kids?’ No action. ‘What if it were a member of Congress?’ No action. Now ‘what if it were ALL OF THE CONGRESS AT THE SAME TIME?’ and still no action. They really must be more afraid of something else than they are of being murdered in the Capitol.
Or it could be that they weren’t afraid of being murdered, that they knew (or at least thought) that they weren’t the target.
This. They were ready to join the insurrectionists.
Some members of Congress huddled in “a secure extraction point,” but Ocasio-Cortez said she didn’t feel safe joining because “QAnon and white supremacist sympathizers, and frankly white supremacist members of Congress in that extraction point, who I know, and who I had felt would disclose my location… who would create opportunities to allow me to be hurt, kidnapped.”
“I didn’t even feel safe around other members of Congress, and to be kind of fending for yourself in that way is traumatizing,” she said.
The party has been taken over by internet trolls.
The kind who really mean it.

But he didn’t retreat. He rightly sought to ignore her. Good for him! She is not worth it.
@guest,
And yet it was them three weeks ago, and they just want to pretend that nothing happened.
