That’s pretty much what I said to my husband this morning. Trump was elected because he is Trump, not in spite of it. The people voting for Trump are not fooled; they know what he is, and they like it.
And he’s modeled trumpy behavior for all this time, training millions in how to be callous rude angry belligerent mean shits. He’s left his filthy stain on all of us.
He’s a Republican and negative partisanship is a hell of a drug… and yes, Republicans are massive racists, but when you’ve got a bunch of people that view the other side being in power as an existential threat this is what you get.
Definitely disappointed that my gut feelings prior to covid-19 seem to have been correct.
Yup. Trump definitely is not an anomaly; he’s representative of half of Americans.
60% of Nebraskans. (I checked the figure, saw the map with Biden picking up Omaha and leading in Lincoln, but the amount of red scared me for a minute; I forgot it was only a map of Nebraska, and looked at all that red as indicative of the US. Good thing I figured it out before I had a heart attack.)
I guess I’m lucky, my county (DeKalb) is currently 83% for Biden. The race in Georgia is close and I hope my fellow Georgians don’t let me down. Georgia has been historically a red state, but maybe the early voter tally will put us in the blue.

The rest of us can only look on with horror.
Well of course. What reason could there be to vote for Trump in spite of the fact that he’s Trump?
Unless you’re a billionaire, that is. I get why they do. But anyone else…nuthin.

For his followers it may be racism. For him it’s to become capo de tutti capi. Racism is just one of tools he uses to manage his gang… I mean voters.
