Hmm, so they aren’t aware that the hour of daylight you seem to lose in the evening, you get back in the morning?
I live so far north, at about 63.4 degrees north, that the difference between daylight saving time and standard time is only really noticable for a short while each spring and fall. In winter, it’s just dark all the time, except for a few hours around noon. And in summer, it’s the other way around. (In fact, at midsummer, I can easily read outside at midnight.) We put our clocks back next weekend. I look forward to having daylight when I get up, but that will only last a few more weeks.
Actually, the whole business of changing the clocks twice a year is a pain. It appears that Europe is going to stop doing it, starting next year.
It seems that they are also unaware that the amount of daylight depends on the length of time between sunrise and sunset and that nothing we do to clocks will affect that.
Do all organisations employ idiots to run their social media accounts?
AoS, I believe they do exactly that. Anyone who is a liability in the office gets ‘promoted’ into some post with a fancy title with the words ‘social media’ somewhere in there. Since the people actually doing the work probably don’t pay any attention whatsoever to Twitter and the like, they’ll only find out that the idiot has been trashing their reputation when someone else complains to the CEO.
To be fair I’m sure it was just a brain fart, not ignorance. It’s the real weather people who say things on that account, and I’m very fond of them. Their building is on Lake Washington, with beautiful grounds that used to be easy to get to, before 9/11 caused tighter security on all federal buildings. They post photos from the roof often.
Ah, yes, that time of year when we take an hour out of each day and insert it into the night. Until March, the clocks will go from 11:59 am straight to 1:00 pm, getting rid of that pesky hour where you’re just tired and hungry and waiting for your lunch break. Of course this isn’t great for anyone working nights – that 11:59 pm to 12:59 pm stretch can really drag!
