Yeah, I gotta go with hormone treatments, fake breast enlargements, other surgeries, 3 pounds of make-up and some picture filtering software stretched to the limit while still looking like a man in drag. Funny how us real women need none of that stuff.
I think the simplest answer is ‘that’s not what women look like.’ (I’ve never seen a woman that looks like that–in real life, without a lot of labour and artificial enhancements.)
Let’s just go right ahead and replace the dictionary definition with that picture. Obviously “sex object pouting in lingerie” is much more acceptable to the Woketariat than “adult human female”.
Therefore, Ophelia Benson admits that trans men are men, and it is possible for someone assigned female at birth to be a man.
Thus, Benson should agree that trans women are women, and it is possible for someone assigned male at birth to be a woman. To admit that trans men are men, and then declare that trans women are also men, is rank sexism and bigotry
It’s hilarious. It’s a TERRIBLE CRIME to use the “wrong” pronoun but if you use the “right” pronoun you’re admitting that the trans person is really and truly the other sex. The reasoning, it is spectacular!
More than a few people have the screenshot of Morgane Oger, Canadian TIM, tweeting that trans women are men. So……..guess that settles it, as Benson is a mere real women and Oger is a supreme faux-woman. ;)
That hasn’t been my experience. That hasn’t been the experience of Barry Deutsch , either:
Many of my friends and acquaintances are transgender in various ways, and – being a big dork – I’ve more than once gotten people’s pronouns wrong. It’s something I’m especially liable to do if I haven’t known the person long, or if I have known the person long but they’ve only recently announced their pronoun preference.
Nine hundred and ninety nine times out of a thousand, there’s really nothing more to it than saying “oops, sorry” and moving on. But that’s not how right-wingers – most of whom have never known any out transgendered people outside of Twitter – tell it.
It is the intentional and repeated use of the wrong pronoun that qualifies as harassment. And I have to go by what a person tells me – there’s no way I’m pulling down someone’s pants and doing a genitalia check to determine what pronoun I should use.
One more question: putting the word “quote” inside brackets didn’t produce a quote box, as it usually does. Is there a special way to produce a quote box on this website?

Yeeaaah that’s not how that works. We almost always know who is which on sight and/or hearing. Doubt is vanishingly rare, especially when hearing is included. This idea that we Just Don’t Know unless we do a genital check is fatuous.
It’s like Family Feud, right? I’ll take Surgery first, then Drugs, then Photoshop.
These are all cakes. They don’t turn into lemons or hats or wallets or cell phones just because they have been made to look like those things.

Breast implants, makeup, facial surgery and a stupid pouty expression while wearing lingerie. Explanation complete.
Remind me again how this is supposed to be consistent with feminism?

I’ve got something more difficult.
On August 23, 2020, Ophelia Benson wrote,
“If Beggs had extra testosterone then he shouldn’t have competed as a girl.”
(See http://www.butterfliesandwheels.org/2020/right-to-trample/ )
Note that Benson referred to Mack Beggs as “he.”
As in a male pronoun.

P. S. I have screenshots.
Or maybe Benson just doesn’t believe in word-magic or the reality-altering power of pronouns…

“trans women” are men. End of.

No, it’s just the ordinary “blockquote” in brackets.
