He has a thick skin
A trans footballer who endured online abuse after announcing she was joining a professional team said the experience has been “hurtful.”
That is, a man who wants to play football against women has received some pushback.
Sammy Walker, 29, from Bristol, was targeted by Twitter users who labelled her a “paedophile” and claimed she was stealing places from female players.
Because he is stealing a place from a female player. That’s how that works. If the team gives a place to him then there’s a woman who didn’t get that place.
“I fought tooth and nail to be me, and it obviously hurts,” she said.
Heedless of how his tooth and nail fighting affects women, isn’t he. Male-typical obliviousness. Also what he fought for was not “to be me” but “to be universally recognized as something I’m not.”
The FA’s policy on trans people in football states “gender identity should not be a barrier to participation”.
But gender identity is not the issue, the issue is a man playing against women. It’s not to do with identity, it’s to do with bodies – muscles, lungs, pelvises, heights, weights.
Trans individuals who wish to play professionally are judged on a case-by-case basis. Players must submit blood samples to prove their testosterone levels do not give them a physical advantage.
That’s woefully inadequate. Men have an array of advantages and they’re not all determined by testosterone.
“It’s frustrating that people think my participation is a risk to women’s sport in general,” she said.
But it’s also frustrating that his participation is a risk to women’s sport and that he doesn’t give a shit. It’s frustrating that he’s so eager to take a place from a woman and put the women on his team at risk by his presence. It’s frustrating that the BBC is reporting this story so incompetently.
While the club she has signed for has been supportive, Ms Walker, who played academy football before transitioning, says the experience has been “upsetting.”
…
“I’ve got a thick skin and it will take more than words on a screen to deter me,” she added.
He’s got a thick skin and he doesn’t give a good god damn about the women he’s cheating and endangering.
His skin obviously isn’t very thick if he was so disturbed that he had to share this with everybody, and discuss his hurt feelings.
So I’m reading this after later posts that are unhappy that some Republican is asking Fauci if protests are bad for spreading COVID-19. That question is apparently rude and beyond the pale.
Now we have someone who feels they are a woman and it’s rude and beyond the place to question that,
I personally think church, rallies, and protests are all bad ideas in the COVID-19 era, and there’s nothing rude about discussing that.
I also think there’s nothing beyond the pale about coming up with criteria for who is a woman in sports. Spoiler: Not men.
But if we’re going to pretend protesting for just causes magically makes COVID-19 concerns irrelevant, then we might as well accept the magic ability of men to turn themselves into women. Either we believe in magic or we don’t.
Personally, I don’t.
Then, Skeletor, I guess you didn’t read very closely.
As pointed out, it is not Fauci’s job to make rulings, just to provide medical advice. He has no legislative authority. And those who do have that authority are being negligent in not using it.
But if we’re going to pretend protesting for just causes magically makes COVID-19 concerns irrelevant,
And is that what Fauci said, or just your imagination?
I personally think church, rallies, and protests are all bad ideas in the COVID-19 era, and there’s nothing rude about discussing that.
I think that sometimes the threat to civil society is so great that a protest, no matter the time, is legitimate. Some may die, but as we should have learned from history, many more will die when we let evil prevail.
Shorter Skeletor: “Even I couldn’t find anything in this post to nitpick, so I’m going to drag in a completely unrelated topic and then imply you’re all hypocrites.”
Do all men who join a football team have their testosterone levels tested? If not, how do they even know they are men?
Catwhisperer #5
Or perhaps more to the point: Do they have their ways of thinking and feeling, “inner sense of self” etc. tested? If not, how do we make sure that only those who actually qualify as “men” or “women” respectively in the Genderspeak sense (as opposed to, say, people like me) are allowed to compete?
Catwhisperer, they KNOW they are men because of that thing that dangles between their legs.
Unless they decide to be women, in which case it becomes a “girlie dick” and you may be invited to suck it. And should you refuse, then you are a TERF who is erasing their identity and should be burned in a grease fire.
I just thought about it some more, and now I’m questioning how the level of of a person’s testosterone can even be put into the context of “lower” or “higher” than “men” or “women” when the statistics on those sorts of things were presumably compiled in the dark ages when “men” and women” were categories defined by biology, not feelings… goodbye, all statistics, I guess?
Catwhisperer, that might be an argument for those that are pushing for inclusion of men into women’s sports just because they say they are women. It seems reducing testosterone levels and removal of testicles to call yourself a woman is just transphobic. Self-ID is all that is needed! (I’m not sure if any sports teams are doing this yet; I’ve just heard about the Gender Recognition Act in England, and I don’t think they’ve got that anyone is a woman who says he is a woman thing passed yet. Someone else may be more informed on that.)
As I understand it (which may be not at all), they are trying to get the Gender Recognition Act overhauled so that self ID is all that’s required. It appears that various sports organisations are “ahead” of the law, in that they are following the Olympic Committee’s lead on this which is all about testosterone levels, and which is how we’ve arrived at the story about World Rugby considering “banning” trans women from women’s teams as if we’ve all forgotten that throughout the history of pretty much every goddamn sport it’s always been women who have been banned from taking part and that’s the entire reason we needed women’s teams and categories in the first place.
Well but you see women are supposed to be banned from everything, lest they slut slut slut slut whore, therefore replacing women with trans women in sport is the right and holy thing to do.
Sluts.
