Detailed contact tracing
Matt Gaetz may have passed COVID-19 on to Trump, and now this:
Health minister and Conservative MP Nadine Dorries says she has tested positive for coronavirus.
Ms Dorries said in a statement she took “all the advised precautions” as soon as she was informed of her diagnosis.
She added: “Public Health England has started detailed contact tracing and the department and my parliamentary office are closely following their advice.”
I won’t say it. It wouldn’t be appropriate.
I can’t quite guess what you won’t say, and hope it wouldn’t have reflected badly on you. I’m not aware that Ms Dorries – not everyone’s cup of tea I know – is any sort of Coronavirus denialist, or anything other than a reasonably conscientious health minister. Not some sort of mini-Trump. Not someone who deserves to be sneered at just now. MPs and Ministers are more at risk than most of us, and I genuinely think they are trying to do their best in the face of serious and unfamiliar challenges. Perhaps that’s an unfashionable view. But I think it’s the correct one.
