Guess what the criteria were
Great. Trump is replacing the Director of National Intelligence (Dan Coats) with a party hack.
President Donald Trump’s just-announced nominee to replace Dan Coats as director of national intelligence had already drawn national attention earlier this week, when he delivered an aggressive diatribe against former special counsel Robert Mueller.
…
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, called Ratcliffe’s questioning of Mueller “demagogic” and said the White House selected him for intelligence director because he “exhibited blind loyalty to President Trump.”
“It’s clear that Rep. Ratcliffe was selected because he exhibited blind loyalty to President Trump with his demagogic questioning of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller,” Schumer said in a press release Sunday. “If Senate Republicans elevate such a partisan player to a position that requires intelligence expertise and non-partisanship, it would be a big mistake.”
They’ll do it.
The vodka store in the Kremlin must by now be getting dangerously low. I can hear the hilarity (pun intended) of the party (pun again intended) from here. In Australia. In the bush.
Wait. Another astrayan?? Weird, three that I know of here out of … one or two dozen dozen (?) regular commenters seems like an over-representation, given our population. Mano’s was the same – at least four of us amongst that small coterie.
Well, Holms, the population of Australia is 13X larger than that of Nebraska. There is one Nebraskan, so by rights to be truly represented, you should have 13 Australians for every Nebraskan! Right? Of course, there seem to be a lot of places that are even more underrepresented here. Our commentariat simply isn’t big enough to be truly representative. ;-)
There’s not a lot of Aussie atheist blogs. And now there’s not a lot of atheist blogs that aren’t littered with stupid slogans like “sex is a spectrum”. One is here for intelligent discussion.
The only satisfaction I have in this news is that Ratcliffe is going to have a hell of a time working for Donnie Two-Scoops. I wish him all the joy of the worm.
Every day Trump is President is day when people who vote Republican ask themselves “is this who I am?” I’m almost confident there’ll be a massive swing against him. Hating Russia has been such an important part of Patriotism in Republican America; it’s going to push a lot of people two ways.
@ Holms #2:
Mano is a cricket fan.
