What about the civil liberties of girls?
Terry works hard to compete in the sport she loves. Her successes, just like all athletes’, should be celebrated, not attacked.
Who is Terry Miller? The Connecticut high school athlete who, along with Andraya Yearwood, competes against girls in track despite having a male body.
Doing that is not a “civil liberty” and should not be on the ACLU’s list of things to defend.
Cheats. And I hope that they will be booed as cheats at every meet they attend until they compete against men. No-one wants to stop them competing; those of us who want them out of women’s sports merely want to stop them cheating.
“What about the civil liberties of girls?”
But they’re not girly girls they’re sporty girls and since all men are sports guys that means sporty girls are manly and so men can compete against them and it’s totally fair it’s all about who trained harder. /s
It sounds almost like Terry Miller is unaware of the untold numbers of women and girls whose hard work has been ignored. For centuries. Everywhere. The women and girls who had no opportunity to participate in athletics or academics or the sciences or politics.
Seriously, is there anyone less interested in the lives of women and girls than transwomen?
That might not be fair, I know. But this stuff gets so demoralizing.
Welp, they saw fit to defend members of the KKK; stupid shit like this isn’t exactly out of character for the ACLU.
Hell, Heather Heyer’s(sp) was at least partially on them for helping the Charlottesville rally to happen.
“Trans people belong in sports”
No one is barring trans women from the male league.
BKiSA wait what? The ACLU helped the racists rally in Charlottesville? If I knew that I’d forgotten it.
Ben @ 3 – Oh on the contrary. It’s a pattern. Trans women who give a shit about actual women are vanishingly rare, at least on public platforms.
It’s one thing to defend people’s constitutional right to assemble, and express their views, however disgusting.
It’s another to treat the idea that “men/boys are women/girls if they say they are” as axiomatic.
Well I dunno if this’ll post since the ones with links didn’t but there’s at least one NYT article that covers the whole Unite the Right/ACLU thing…
They really don’t exercise any fucking judgement before taking a case.
