Such blasphemous filth these days
Department of we can sell it but you can’t say it.
It’s real.
It’s another real-life joke! This is the story. This is part of the Billy Connolly routine. And this is a recent screenshot from Asda’s online store:

I am reminded of TRAs campaigning mercilessly to get working-class people fired, while happily ignoring (or even reinforcing) the structural problems which actually harm trans people.
Yeah, because being personally misgendered is the worst possible crime imagineable. Actual violence. The perpetrators should be happy that it’s just a job they’ve lost.
Also, much, much easier targets than big things like “structural problems.” That would take work and effort.
A similar case is playing out here in Australia with a devout Christian Rugby player being sacked for a social media post that Homosexuals, adulterers, drunks and other assorted sinners would go to hell.
He claims he was expressing sincerely held religious beliefs. Rugby Australia claims he has brought the game into disrepute and breached their social media code. It is further complicated by Rugby Australia’s major sponsor being QANTAS whose CEO is gay.
Folau launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $AU3 million to fund his legal costs, even though he is already a millionaire. GoFyundMe stopped his campaign, saying it breached their rules around raising money to spread hate.
The Australian Christian Lobby then took up the cudgels on his behalf, and have stopped seeking donations at just past $AU2 million. They may now be in trouble with the charity regulator as raising money for a private individual’s legal is bills is not one of the charitable purposes they listed upon registering.
I do see a number of differences between the two cases, and one commonality.
Unlike Folau, Brian wasn’t using a platform provided by his employer.
Unlike Folau, Brian didn’t double down, he apologised.
Unlike Folau, Brain isn’t seeking millions in donations from struggling Tongans.
Unlike Folau, Brian isn’t already a millionaire.
Unlike Folau, Brian is already yesterday’s news.
The only thing they have in common are harsh clauses in employment contracts that erase the line between work life and private life. Many of those shouting the loudest in support of Folau are those who also lead the assault on Trade Unions and workers’ rights, watering down and eliminating hard-won protections.
