Some of the language was extraordinarily overheated
Meanwhile in another part of the forest…
The Open University was forced to cancel a conference on prison reform following threats from the transgender lobby, it has emerged.
Is there really such a thing as the transgender lobby? Not exactly, but there is a mandatory orthodoxy and a large group of people eager to enforce it, so maybe that’s an okay label for it.
The CCJS, an educational charity, has been accused of “transphobia” for its stance that transgender female prisoners should be incarcerated separately from female prisoners.
“The Open University faced quite significant pressure from transgender activists. They received a number of emails where some of the language was extraordinarily overheated,” a source told The Telegraph.
It’s odd that that’s what trans activists want to be known for – overheated language filled with threats and absurd claims. Maybe it’s inevitable when the core mandatory belief is so very…what to call it…counter-reality.
Last month, the CCJS released a statement on transgender prisoners which said that prison service has “a duty to provide fair, decent and respectful provision for trans prisoners”.
It went on: “Given the current state of the prison system, in the case of trans women prisoners, we consider that this can best be achieved through the provision of accommodation that is separate from female prisoners.”
The CCJS statement was released following the case of transgender prisoner Karen White, a convicted rapist and paedophile who was born a man but used a transgender persona to attack female prisoners in a women’s prison. The prison service has since apologised over failings in the case.
But the lobby is adamant that female prisoners have to put up with that so that any male who says he is female can be Validated by the prison system.
Sometimes it almost looks as though the main goal of the transgender lobby is men getting access to vulnerable women.
Well, if we take lobby to mean ‘entrance hall’, then a trans lobby will be rather restrictive and more difficult to enter than a normal lobby.
I’ll get my coat..
I’m aware that fairness is not high on the trans agenda – at least not fairness as most reasonable-thinking people would understand the term – but it strikes me as only fair that those transwomen prisoners still in possession of their male genitalia be either segregated from the female prison population for the protection of both the women and the transwomen, or be housed in male prisons (and possibly segregated from the men for the transwomen’s protection).
Where to house surgically transitioned transwomen is something I’m still uncertain about, but one thing that is certain is that shutting down discussions and conferences on prison reform because the trans lobby disagree with the opinions of just one of the participating groups or individuals is helping nobody on either side.
Oh, I think it’s fair to say there is. Certainly everyone who disagrees with transgender dogma is in danger of being silenced, including those trans people who fail to admit that 2+2=5.
Wait. You mean 2+2 doesn’t equal 5? Well, color me shocked!
What does 2+2 identify as? What is its lived experience? It might look like it should be an even number, but’s an odd number, full stop, and belongs with the set of odd numbers. What is truly important is that its oddness is validated and that its oddness is centered in the study of odd numbers, despite the protests of cis-odd Natal Odd Radical Mathematists.
And as for overheated language, you can always put it on a trivet until it cools down.
Two plus two equals five
