True for thousands of years
The Democrats are trying to belittle the concept of a Wall, calling it old fashioned. The fact is there is nothing else’s that will work, and that has been true for thousands of years. It’s like the wheel, there is nothing better. I know tech better than anyone, & technology…..
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
Somewhere on the internet, somebody must be compiling the grand list of Things In Which Trump Claims Expertise.
Screechy, it would be easier to list the things he hasn’t claimed to be GREAT at.
Hey, there’s a reason why you don’t see me volunteering to compile it…
Nothing else that would work? If he were serious about ending immigration, the best way to do it is to ensure a more equitable distribution of resources. A lot of people would probably rather stay with home and family than uproot and take a risky journey in the hopes of getting a better life somewhere else. They would probably rather have a better life where they are, but policies of their own governments and ours make that impossible.
Hear that, Trump? Divvy up a little of the goodies. Allow people to feed their children, and vow you won’t coat another thing with gold plate (ugly gold plate) until everyone on the planet has enough to feed themselves and their families, and has the health care they need. Vow you will only take one scoop of ice cream until everyone is able to get a scoop.
That would actually work much better than a wall, and a lot fewer people would die from the experience. Families wouldn’t have to separate, people wouldn’t be torn from their communities and thrust into a strange world, and Trump would leave behind a positive legacy like no other.
But he won’t do it, because he doesn’t even see them as people.
Not to mention his more evil (and less stupid) anti-immigration policies are more effective…
The wall will have to have at least two ends. People can go round those somehow, UNLESS the wall girdles the entire planet. Getting it across the Pacific and the Atlantic would be a cinch: float it on pontoons. North Africa would be no problem either, as it is mainly desert, and the interior of the wall could include a water pipe of appropriate size with taps all pointing out of it on the southern side to keep the locals distracted. But building it across Arabia, the Himalayas and China could involve a few problems. Still, it could be linked up to the Great Wall of China. That might bring the Chinese on board.
And definitely, worth a try. Definitely.. And there would have to be huge economic spinoffs like equipping anti-tunneling operations, patrolling it with drones to stop attempts to fly over it: stuff like that.
It could float the whole global economy for thousands of years.
PS: And it was not my fault that I flunked Economics 101.
He’s apparently going to play golf at Where-My-Wall-Go this weekend.
While it might be true that there is nothing else’s (sic) better than a wheel, wheels aren’t so great for flying or transporting things across the water. Or the ice. Or the desert. Except for that, there’s nothing else’s better than a wheel.

iknklast,
Many of the immigrants are escaping the brutal violence of gangs like MS-13, which contra Trump’s hysteria originated in the US and was exported to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras when we deported convicted gang members. So first we need to stop our own exportation of violence.

What a Maroon –
That was part of my intent, in the idea of making things better. I did have that in there originally, but deleted part of the post and forgot to write that part back in. Absolutely we would need to stop exporting violence, and stop supporting violence and dictatorships.
Oh, and environment…there are a number of refugees from environmental catastrophes.
We’ve got a lot of work to do. I’m not against immigrants, but I do think it would be a better world if we did the things I suggested, whether you like immigrants or not it just makes us more human.
iknklast,
Agreed. Most people would gladly stay close to home if they could, rather than disrupting their entire lives and moving to an alien land.
Donnie’s gut feels / That big walls and wheels / And two scoops at meals / Are excellent deals.
That’s just so Trump.
He should have known better than to make such a boast on the internet.

I can’t believe you started a sentence about Trump with ” He should have known better than” and then didn’t just abandon the concept of Trump knowing anything ;)
If you’re gonna build a wall, you’re gonna have to consult with Pink Floyd.
Donnie don’t need no edukayshun.
