Where is the server?
This. This part is just absolutely staggering. CNN:
Russian President Vladimir Putin denied Russian interference in the 2016 US election. (Meanwhile, US intelligence agencies insist Russians did interfere.)
Trump declined to endorse the US intelligence community’s assessment that Russia interfered in the election, saying Putin was “extremely strong and powerful” in his denial.
Instead, the US president repeatedly asked about the Democratic National Committee’s email server and Hillary Clinton’s missing emails.
Here’s the moment:
So let me just say that we have two thoughts: You have groups that are wondering why the FBI never took the server. Why haven’t they taken the server? Why was the FBI told to leave the office of the Democratic National Committee? I’ve been wondering that. I’ve been asking that for months and months, and I’ve been tweeting it out and calling it out on social media. Where is the server? I want to know where is the server and what is the server saying? …I have President Putin, he just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be, but I really do want to see the server. But I have — I have confidence in both parties. I really believe that this will probably go on for a while, but I don’t think it can go on without finding out what happened to the server. What happened to the servers of the Pakistani gentleman that worked on the DNC? Where are those servers? They’re missing. Where are they? What happened to Hillary Clinton’s emails? 33,000 emails gone, just gone.
Ah but they cut it off too soon. There wasn’t a period after that “just gone,” only a very brisk comma, after which he went straight on to add “I think in Russia they wouldn’t be gone so easily.”

OMFG Trump just said it’s an “incredible offer” for Putin to send the people responsible for the cyberattack to the US to investigate the cyberattack. #TrumpPutinSummit

Wow. Maria Butina — a Russian national with extensive ties to the NRA, the GOP, & the Trump campaign — has been arrested and charged with acting as an agent of the Russian govt within the US. This is huge.

Here’s Trump in 2015, suggesting to Maria Butina (Russian crime boss Alexander Torshin’s special assistant) that he would lift sanctions on Russia.
“I believe I would get along very nicely with Putin… I don’t think you’d need the sanctions.”

Yeah, this Butina arrest could be the start of something really big. It’s not just Trump and his inner circle. Butina was making connections with the NRA and other conservative organizations, and it looks like at least some of the Americans she was talking with knew she was doing so on behalf of Russia.
Well Katie bar the door.
I was simultaneously not surprised at all and very surprised by the press conference. It was exactly what I expected he’d be inclined to say but I thought maybe he’d either figure out what a bad idea it was or be told not to do it and listen for once.
I do agree with Ben Shapiro that a big driver of this is that “Trump’s ego is one giant gaping wound, constantly draining rage over the suggestion that his 2016 election victory was somehow ill-won”. Hence the demented babbling about Hillary’s email. He’s still reliving the election. He doesn’t want to believe Russia put him over the top, so he’s relieved when Putin tells him what he wants to hear, even though believing Putin makes him look like a complete imbecile to the whole world.
I also agree with Shapiro that this is no excuse at all. His performance was obscene. Republicans were upset about the Dixie Chicks criticizing American leadership overseas, so how can they countenance this?
The Dixie Chicks weren’t giving them tax breaks and taking all the attention away from them as they rob, loot, and plunder the national treasure. (Both human and capital).
