Missing
Trump misses Rob wifebeater Porter and wants him back.
President Trump has stayed in touch with Rob Porter, the former White House staff secretary who stepped down after allegations that he had abused his two former wives came to light, according to three people familiar with the conversations, and has told some advisers he hopes Mr. Porter returns to work in the West Wing.
He sees Porter as a “they just don’t understand us!” bro.
From Fire and Fury:
Here was, Bannon saw again, the essential Trump problem. He hopelessly personalized everything. He saw the world in commercial and show business terms: someone was always trying to one-up you, someone else was always trying to take the limelight.
Bannon realized it was about institutions rather than people.
To Trump, he was just up against Sally Yates, who was, he steamed, “such a cunt.”
What do we do to women who are such cunts? Bam, that’s what.
To have a president of the United States calling a woman a “cunt”…I never thought that would happen. Most of them, whatever else their faults, have been at least housebroken, and understand the world of politics.
This one is exceptional, you see. But you knew that.
Exceptional – maybe in that way that means he is way below the rest in pretty much every parameter.
Yes – I said that you knew that! ;-)
Well, you never thought it would happen until Trump won, right? It doesn’t surprise you that he would say that? Or does it.
Not one kopek.
Ophelia, it doesn’t surprise me at all that Trump would say it; it doesn’t really surprise me at all that he won, though it would have at one time. Back when I thought my family was abnormal, and I was the normal one, I wouldn’t have thought Trump could win. Now I know that I had it backwards, and I am strange and peculiar, like they always insisted, it doesn’t really surprise me that Trump won, any more than it surprised me when a judge would give my sister’s children back in the face of enormous evidence of abuse, because she was a “good Christian woman”.
Very little surprises me anymore. I might be able to be surprised if the world stopped turning tomorrow, but the rest of it? Not so much. I discovered this week that I have a student who thinks the earth rotates around the moon. I am beyond surprise.
That last bit is surprising. Are you sure you’re not just being trolled? Kids can be both cruel and inventive, and these days they can haz internetz too.
Now that you mention it, I do keep being surprised by Trump, even though I already know what a shit he is. It keeps being kind of both at once – not at all surprised and yet surprised.
And in truth I’d rather have it that way than the other way. I don’t want to get used to it.
Rrr – I actually think it might simply have been a mistake on a test (which is where it turned up, a place students usually prefer not to troll because it hurts their grade). I am certainly hoping that is the case…
Ophelia, #9, I’m with you. I don’t want to be used to it; unfortunately, my family made that status impossible for me too many years ago. I keep telling my husband I’d really like to go back to that period when Trump was sort of a minor nothing celebrity mostly because he kept getting divorced, but no one really cared much, and we could spend decades at a time not thinking about him, not being aware of his existence, and only noticing him when he was spoofed in Gremlins II.
I don’t think that there is anything that Trump could do now which would surprise me. Shock me, yes. But not surprise me.
