Sniff test
I was going to run with this but then I paused. It could be fake. I think it might be fake. It’s just that little bit too much.

It’s that very last bit that overdoes it. Asking them to limit their own concerns to one day out of three or four a week so that he can feel happy is just that little bit too much. Just that little bit too Wally Smith, if you remember him.
If using a comment here as a platform to ask for information is inappropriate, I apologize in advance, but I’ll keep it brief:
I’m toying with a semi-autobiographical piece that I would like to publish at 3 Quarks Daily. It’s a “what-if” look at a kinda-effeminate boy (me) who grew up in the 1960s and what would happen if he were transplanted into the present with its trans mania: Would he be allowed to grow up to be a normal gay male adult?
I suspect many of these young “trans girls” are effeminate gay boys so full of internalized homophobia that they would do anything (with the support of parents and churches, of course) to avoid the dreaded fate of growing up to be gay.
I’m wondering if there are any clear, citable instances of young gay boys who were either transed or partially transed much to their regret and who learned late (perhaps too late) that they are simply normal gay boys?? These would give my speculative autobiography more authority, I think.
Thanks!
Mike, I recommend looking up Ritchie Herron. He, brave young man, has given a lot of interviews concerning his entanglement with the gender medical industry and the absolute disaster they made of his life. Gaslighting, coercion, brutal surgeries and all.
Mike, it’s not inappropriate at all.
I’ll make it a guest post unless you’d rather I didn’t.
OK! Gotta get the nerve up to submit it first! It will be in a few weeks.
I meant this comment here – I assume you want the 3 Quarks piece to be an exclusive.
Yes, when it comes out I’ll post the link.
Back to the topic, I think it’s fake. It’s too perfect. Yes, reality has lapped satire, but “when i try to make a joke everyone kinda goes quiet” is so creepy. Or maybe I just want it to be fake.
Mike:
Too late: Shape Shifter
Thankfully not: Pear Joseph
The comment leads back to a three year old post post on the subreddit r/asktransgender (“Questions and discussions about, for, to, or from the Reddit transgender community. Open to anyone with a question.”). The poster’s account name “throwaway33429001” makes clear it is an anonymous poster, so without any other indication of fakery, it is as genuine as any other anonymously posted comment on the internet.
What makes me take it as genuine however is the responses of others in that thread. They take it as genuine, telling me this is not so far outside of the scope of their commentary that they take the person to be disingenuous. Rather than denouncing the poster as a plant intending to make them look bad, they give a mix of support and criticism.
I remember Wally Smith.
Holms yebbut people do that. Fail to notice that juuuuuuuuuuust a little bit too far. That’s why I mention Wally Smith – I was alone in suspecting he was fake at first.
