Mentally unwell and
This is an angle that doesn’t get enough attention.
To spell out the obvious, that’s a doctor who misunderstands some very basic things about the human body. It’s also a doctor who is self-obsessed enough to pretend to be the other sex and to impose that fantasy game on patients. Why would anyone want that from a doctor?
Well, obviously you want to show to the world (i.e., including yourself) how virtuous (i.e., progressive) you are.
If I were faced with someone like Upton in A&E, I’d call security and tell them that a drag queen had broken in and was pretending to be a doctor. I would stubbornly refuse to hear any other explanation, and would make a VERY LOUD fuss. I can be very stubborn; I out-stubborn cats, FFS. And I can be extraordinarily loud (that’s what comes of raising four sons on the spectrum and three rugby players (two sons and a daughter)), having lots of rescue dogs, and being a biker for decades (shouting over loud exhausts isn’t something which can be done half-heartedly if you wish to be heard).
The bloke’s ears will be bleeding when I’ve done, even if I’m in A&E barely able to breathe. All my pent up fury at the treatment these narcissistic misogynistic psychopaths have been meting out to innocent women and children will explode at once.
Don’t overheat a pressure cooker. We explode with no warning.
Not merely lying about their sex, but also lying about their previous record of discipline. Fundamental dishonesty that makes a travesty of “informed consent.” Not clear on their basic ethical duties toward patients.
Beyond unwell, probably a dissociative thing, and dissociative things are considered mental illness. I prefer my doctors to be in touch with reality.
Save that stuff for retirement dude…
This is also likely a motive for a lot of criminals and ex-cons who want to ‘disappear’ to transition (while arguing that transition should entail as little actual effort on their part as possible). If nothing else, their new legal name will likely not be easy to Google to learn about prior offenses, and may be sufficient to confound the actual legal system in the case of repeat offenses.
