Bahahaha Trump is getting tired of clingy Musk. Of course he is.
According to an eminent New York Times journalist named Maggie Haberman, US President- elect Donald Trump is privately growing weary of Tesla CEO Elon Musk‘s constant presence at Mar-a-Lago residence in spite of publicly welcoming his mega donor and ‘First Buddy’.
Daily Beast reported that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been renting the Banyan Cottage near US President- elect Donald Trump’s residence for approximately $2,000 per night while attending personnel meetings and dinners with other significant tech billionaires.
While Tesla CEO Elon Musk has invested over $260 million in US President-elect Donald Trump’s re-election campaign and currently seems to be on the winning side of the MAGA tech landscape, at the same time, his aggressive behavior and proximity are causing significant tension, asserted Daily Beast. Maggie Haberman also suggested that US President- elect Donald Trump is irritated by references to ‘President Musk’ and that Elon Musk has not even fully understood Donald Trump’s complex political dynamics.
A ray of hope.
Yeah, but the alternatives to Musk are Steves Bannon and Miller. Not exactly reassuring.
Musk has been getting a lot of the attention; Trump can’t stand that, having someone else in the spotlight.
Bannon has declared open war on Musk and vowed Musk will not have unfettered access to the White House. It’s not actually clear to me that Bannon has the power and influence to make that happen, but insert [Let them fight] meme here.
Well Musk is probably less dangerous to me personally (vs. say Cuckerberg) and Bannon/Miller don’t give a shit about the economy.
I can’t imagine that Trump has the insight to use his own irritation at the “President Musk” comments to get some sense of how his “Governor Trudeau” jibes might piss off our Prime Minister. Karma, Donnie, karma. Get used to it.
Did neither of Musk or Trump foresee the possibility of this kind of falling out when nearly everyone else did? A number of us here predicted it when Musk started showing up at Trump’s rallies. Did they think the honeymoon would last forever, or did each go in thinking this would be a momentary, mutual parasitism that would last only as long as either of them found the other to be of use to their own needs? The planet itself is barely big enough to contain both their bloated egos, let alone the Oval Office. There’s only one chair behind the Resolute desk, and when the music stops, Trump is not going to be the one left standing, and he sure as hell isn’t going to sit on Musk’s lap. Musk will be sent packing, but he won’t go without some kind of parting shot or retaliation.
When Musk gets pushed out by Trump, will he try to remove Orange Julius from office, as he’s trying to do with the leaders of Germany and the UK? Will he stir up invocation of the 25th Ammendment? God knows Trump’s comments on Canada, Greenland, and Panama are ammunition enough even before he takes office, though for the moment, these ravings serve as useful distractions that keep critics off balance. Will Musk try courting Vance (or vice versa) to get the ball rolling?* Unlike the UK, there’s actually a process in place that he could use, manipulate, or contribute to, to make this happen. But in order for that to work, Trump’s popularity would have to be drastically reduced. Or, his “retirement” could be prtrayed as suitable reward for a job well done, after letting him make enough public mistakes (like Biden’s debate performance) to make any removal for mental incapacity more palatable to his supporters. Or, they could avoid all that work and effort by arranging some kind of fatal “accident” or “incident” that could be pinned on “hard left, radical, liberal” enemies, removing Trump, while at the same time turning him into a martyr, and giving Vance his own Rechstag Fire moment. It would be a trifecta.
And in the other direction, if Trump decides Musk is no longer a friend, will he use the power of the United States government to go after him the same way he’s threatened to do so against his political opponents? How could he resist? This is the narcissism of small differences on a giant scale, with essentially limitless budgets.
*I’ve always figured that it was the carrot of “President Vance” being dangled before his eyes that turned him from an outspoken critic of Trump to his second banana. I think the chances of Trump actually finishing his term are slim to none. Meanwhile, Vance is biding his time. Musk might find him useful. Or vice versa. We’ll see.
