As refugees fleeing persecution
Trump welcomes refugees. Some refugees. A particular brand of refugees.
Trump’s offer to rehouse white South Africans as refugees fleeing persecution may not spur quite the rush he anticipates, as even right-wing white lobby groups want to “tackle the injustices” of Black majority rule on home soil.
Trump on Friday signed an executive order to cut U.S. aid to South Africa, citing an expropriation act that President Cyril Ramaphosa signed last month aiming to redress land inequalities that stem from South Africa’s history of white supremacy. The order provided for resettlement in the U.S. of “Afrikaners in South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination” as refugees.
Afrikaners are mostly white descendants of early Dutch and French settlers, who own most of the country’s farmland.
…
White people represent 7.2% of South Africa’s population of 63 million, statistics agency data shows. The data does not breakdown how many are Afrikaner.
South Africa’s British rulers handed most farmland to whites. In 1950, the Apartheid-era National Party seized 85% of the land, forcing 3.5 million Black people from their homes.
It’s sad for Trump that there are few if any genuine Nazis left alive. He would so love to greet them at the airport.
It’s quite something when an organisation composed of some pretty freaking racist people, say ‘no, we’d rather stay here thanks.’
USA is welcome to them, Australia already has too many who bring their racist ideology with them. Our early renaissance of Black Shirts was begun by Afrikaner Immigrants.
We need to deport the one we have, he’s stinking up the place.
I’m on holiday and the phone mages it hard to cut and paste, so I’ll just drop the link to a view from white South Africa

Rev, I’ve met one South African immigrant to NZ who seems like a genuinely nice chap, but then I only know him professionally and haven’t discussed anything much not work related. Without exception, the other white SA immigrants in NZ I have interacted with were racist as fuck, aggressive and corrosive personalities who definitely stoke the underlying race issues we have. They’re also intensely bitter at the loss of their privileged lives in SA and refuse any responsibility for the backlash whites experienced after decades of violent repression of the bulk of the population. I’m not excusing the obvious wrongs that have been committed by the new regime, but trying to absolve themselves of the wrongs of the apartheid regime is quite something.
How long before President Musk renames the official residence ‘The White-only House’?
I’m still in a bit of a shock over Musk being a groyper. The true irony of all of this is that the Wokies were right about pretty much everything other than math being racist and men being women.
BKiSA, yes, well. To be fair, it’s not like anyone had incontrovertible proof until recently, it was more like one of those vibe things. There was lots to criticise Musk on that did have receipts, and I would have happily hand on heart said he was groyper adjacent a year or more ago. But I wouldn’t have actually picked Musk to be dismantling the US Government while openly signalling his nazi ‘virtue’ to the world until a few months ago. Back in the 90s I thought maybe the world was starting to track in a positive direction. At this point I’ll be relieved if I shuffle off the mortal coil while western democracies are largely intact. I still think it’s more likely than not that my nieces and nephews, and most certainly their kids will end up living in a climate induced hellscape. That’s a pretty bitter thought.
@5 so this song isn’t quite correct then….

@Rob – I feel as though we’re living with an imminent catastrophe, as you describe, with western democracies collapsing under some kind of high surveillance authoritarianism and a climate hellscape. It’s odd having this feeling when nothing has so far affected me directly – I lead a comfortable life, well fed, well housed, well entertained, secure – unlike how my counterpart in the 1930s would have lived, when the catastrophe came. Someone with the same kind of job and background would have lived in a boarding house on bread and margarine, and saving shillings for the gas fire.
We just took it for granted that the Anglosphere would be safe from the worst forms of government and from being invaded – the UK had that fear in WWII of course, but it did have a whacking great empire of resources to call on. Now there’s a sense of fracture – internally in the USA, who is leaning on Canada, and NZ and Australia coming under China’s dominance.
