Hm. Mediaite describes the cognitive test Trump aced rather differently. What it describes is very basic indeed.
On Sunday, the White House released a report from the president’s personal physician, Capt. Sean Barbabella. Dr. Barbabella found that “President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.”
Included in the report were the results of the cognitive exam Dr. Barbarella administered to Trump.
“Cognitive function, assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), was normal with a score of 30 out of 30,” Dr. Barbabella wrote.
Trump has frequently boasted about having aced previous cognitive tests. Speaking with reporters on Air Force One over the weekend, Trump again boasted about his performance on this most recent exam.
“I don’t know what to tell you other than I got every answer right,” Trump said. He added, “I think it’s a pretty well-known test. Whatever it is, I got every one — I got it all right.”
Yes but sir what were the questions? How easy is the test?
The Montreal Cognitive Assessment is a fairly simple exam used to detect early dementia and mild cognitive dysfunction. Respondents are typically asked to recall the date, identify pictures of animals, and count backwards by seven starting at 60.
Oh.
Oh I see.
And Trump is bragging about being able to do those very basic things.
Which kind of shows us how impaired his cognition really is.
Hey, my cognition is good enough to remember that he boasted about passing a similar (the same?) test during his first term! (But would he know what comes next, after he counted down to four? Or do they interrupt the backward count before he gets that far?)
(And all that is in the Related posts, above. Missed that. Failed the test, then?)
When my father clearly wasn’t right and I was as getting very concerned about him driving (he’d twice got lost going to the supermarket 1km away and had hallucinated his face melting while shaving) the doctor somewhat reluctantly did this test or something like it. He scored 93%. Nothing I can do doctor said. Come on I said, he’s not right. Doctor then gave him a more complex test mandated by our Transport Agency for evaluating fitness to drive. Dad scored 30%. License removed. Within two weeks he’d had a major hallucination episode and while reasonably lucid at times never left care again. It was traumatic for him and me, but the reluctance of the medical professionals and his friends who knew him best to admit his deterioration was surprising. Trump might not score 30% on that test, but I’m quite sure it wouldn’t be 100%, nothing to see here either.
I’ve taken a couple of those; I was asked to start at 100. When I got three of them done, they stopped me. They don’t want to sit there and listen to all of the numbers. All you’d really have to do is memorize a few steps down, if you know what the test will be. (I did, but I can do math, so didn’t bother.)
I suspect Biden can pass that test with flying colors too… Now give him an IQ test.
I fear I might fail that test. Knowing the date has little importance to me now that I’m retired, and if I need to know the date I don’t try to remember it but I look at the top right-hand corner of my computer screen.
One can’t get them all “right” as some do not have right/wrong answers. For example, one is tested on how many different words beginning with ‘b’ one can say in 60 seconds. Eleven words will get you the point for that question, though someone with all their faculties could probably come up with about 50 without breaking sweat.
I have administered the MoCA so many times I have it memorized in my long term memory. I would only get the date wrong and that’s a max of 5 points off. I can also recite the eye chart to the 20/15 line with my back turned, doesn’t mean I can see so good.
