Patriarchy was taken aback for a handful of decades, but luckily the most narcissistic people on the left came to the rescue with the suggestion that men could simply declare themselves a woman. Teehee.
And here, they do the work of patriarchy while pretending – and even believing! – that they oppose it.
Again with the equivocation on defining a category distinct from other categories and “defining” or limiting what the elements in those categories ought to do in order to be good or exemplary members of that category. The fuzzy thought processes frustrate the heck out of me because they’re often coming from people who would be able to recognize the fallacy in other contexts.
Fine, don’t define “woman.” Now, explain what the difference between a woman and a man is. If you can’t do it — or won’t— then there’s no distinction and we can arbitrarily place people who identify as transgender into whatever place we want to put them.
Sastra: Don’t forget the other formulation, “what it means to be a woman”, which lets them talk about the consequences of being a woman or the significance (cultural or otherwise) of being a woman.
