Trump wants his money back
Aw, sad, Trump is having second thoughts about picking the dangerous crazy guy.
Much of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, including the decision to tap Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate, was structured around attacks on President Joe Biden. But then Biden announced Sunday that he was withdrawing from the presidential race altogether.
Haha! Fakeout!
Trump campaign officials acknowledged that Trump selected the inexperienced Vance, charged with all his techno-authoritarian ideas, to boost support among their own base, not extend a hand to swing voters, according to The Atlantic. Vance was a symbol of the Trump team’s assuredness that they would win in 2024. Come Sunday, that assuredness appears to be shrinking.
“Most striking thing I heard from Trump allies yesterday was the second-guessing of JD Vance—a selection, they acknowledged, that was [born] of cockiness, meant to run up margins with the base in a blowout rather than persuade swing voters in a nail-biter,” Atlantic staff writer Tim Alberta, who had written the piece about the panicking Trump campaign, posted on Twitter.
Anything about who would be best for the country? Hahahahaha of course not, don’t be stupid.
Trump decried Biden’s decision to drop out in a post on Truth Social, writing that his team would have to “start all over again” and asking to be reimbursed for the cost.
Interesting. I wonder just how long the list is of people who would like to be reimbursed by Trump, like for instance the many contractors he stiffed.
I’ve just commented in the Miscellany room about him wanting his money back.
He’s complaining that he spent millions on ads aimed directly at Biden and is now saying that he wants reimbursing for fraud. Pot, meet kettle.
He’s nothing if not brazen.
Who does he expect to get the money back from? Someone stupider than he is? Good luck with that.
Nominees get picked at the convention; it’s been otherwise for a quite a while, but the name of the person on the ballot isn’t official until then. Technically it could still be a ticket without Harris on it though I doubt it. The Republicans could’ve tossed Trump out on his ear at the convention in 2016 too…
Nice to see that I was right to think that they (and he) would complain about how to unfair it was for the Democrats to change nominees even when they’re perfectly within their rights to do so.
The pivot from “Joe Biden is a drooling senile fool who can’t handle the duties of the presidency, and Democrats should be ashamed to have him as their candidate” to “Joe Biden MUST be FORCED to run as the Democratic nominee, no takebacksies!” would be stunning if it weren’t the kind of thing the GOP does routinely these days.
Yeah, questioning the Vance choice? Wanting reimbursement for campaigning against Biden personally? I’d say the Dems scored a strategic win, even if unintended. Now if the Dems who are in power can unify and get their full weight behind Harris, then we might have a good chance. I will say that both Hillary and Barack are eligible VP candidates, although I know this is just a pipe dream of mine, but the possibilities are hopeful for the moment. I think a two woman ticket is in order, if they can make that happen. Talk about progressive, we’ve been far behind the rest of the world for far too long. Let’s have women Prez and VP candidates. I’m all for it.
Manaaaageeer NOW!
The ideal tack to take when Trumpeteers whine about all the money spent on Biden attack ads would be something like this:
“So, do you think they did this deliberately, keeping Biden in the race for that long just to pull money out of Trump’s campaign coffers before subbing in Kamela?”
They’re almost sure to bite, turning it into a deliberate scheme, with Kamela taking front and center as the puppetmaster.
At which point, the next line would be, “And Trump fell for it? Man, he must be even dumber than I thought. I mean, getting suckered to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, and so easily, too. Total chump move. Complete dupe, even….”
