To infinity and beyond
Trump thought he was supposed to be able to reject as many jurors as he wanted.
Donald Trump complained Wednesday that his lawyers were not given “unlimited” chances to reject prospective jurors at his New York criminal hush money trial.
Mr Sir, if you could reject prospective jurors without limit, then there would never be a trial at all. That’s not how this works. Hope that helps.
“I thought STRIKES were supposed to be ‘unlimited’ when we were picking our jury?” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Imagine admitting you’re that stupid. Imagine making it public of your own free will.
Samantha Chorny, a criminal defense lawyer in New York City, told CNBC that if there were unlimited peremptory strikes, as Trump wants, “I mean, no one would ever pick a jury.”
I managed to figure that out without even going to law school.
There are unlimited strikes for cause.
If you have a good, articulable, demonstrable reason to strike them, you can.
Good Grief ! Didn’t he watch Perry Mason in his youth ?/s or any of the 60s lawyer shows ?
#2, he wouldn’t watch those shows; they never mentioned him! At all! (That was almost exactly the comment I was going to make; I don’t think I know any competent adult who doesn’t know you can’t just kick anyone off the jury if you don’t like them. That’s why lawyers are cautious about who they reject!)
Maybe he should just try yelling “You’re fired!” when there is a juror he doesn’t like. See how long the judge lets him do that. It would at least have some amusement value.
What if Ukraine were to do a modified Mouse That Roared (lose not win) by attacking a NATO country and sink a leaky barge, blow up an abandoned barn in the “victim” country’s territory? Maybe send in a company or two of senior citizens. Nato could respond and invade all of Ukraine, Passify all combatants and occupy the ENTIRE country. Intern or drive out the pro-russian militias, “Rehabilitate” the Zelensky factions. and stare down Putinsky’s agression.
I’d hate to be the guy on his legal team who has to tell him the sad truth about that “Get Out of Jail Free” card he’s been hanging onto all these years.
Damn; good one! An excellent update on “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.” It’s Trump in a nutshell.
What maddog said @ 1. It’s peremptory strikes that are limited, not the for cause ones. No doubt Trump stored them both in the big dumpster that is his brain and got them thoroughly mixed up.
