The swarming of the mentions
Bad stupid man complains about woman having concerns he doesn’t approve of.
Bad stupid man accuses women who disagree with his bad stupid tweet of “swarming” his “mentions.” Man said a bad stupid thing and women replied. That’s not “swarming” and man’s “mentions” are not sacred ground that must be kept immaculately clean.
Yet another DARVO instance here. Opposition is magnified: commenting on a thing when it flares up in the news is obsessive and swarmy and a crusade. Agreement is diminished: men who have made their desire to be female their entire personality are merely ‘living their best lives’ and ‘just trying to pee in peace’.
Most don’t even notice. It is a perfect mirror for those times a christian will whine about nasty atheists ‘obsessing’ over christianity; they don’t notice agreement because there is no friction encountered, and only notice the disagreement as it interrupts the blithe assumption everyone agrees with them. Just like the atheist, the gender critical feminist is a reminder that the worldview is a fantasty.
I don’t expect this to change anyone’s opinion of him here, but I actually like Ben Rothenberg’s tennis coverage and podcast. He’s been very good about taking on the tennis establishment’s blase attitude towards domestic violence allegations against Alex Zverev and other players.
Well that does count.
The Title IX bus tour is here: https://ourbodiesoursports.com/bus. Their posted schedule has 3 rallies left: Washington DC (Tuesday, June 25, 5:30 pm ET), Virginia Beach, VA (Thursday, June 27, 5:30 pm ET), and Nashville, TN (Friday, June 28, 2:00 pm CT). Their schedule said they might add stops, but I have not seen any news that they will. If I see that they do, then I will comment to say so here.
Rally attendance is free, but they have registration online to reserve a spot to attend. Also, their web site has a page to make donations that are tax deductible through the Independent Women’s Forum (IRS EIN 54-1670627).
Ah, the lovely shift from “This thing you’re worried about won’t ever happen” to “How dare you show me examples of this thing I said would never happen?”
He’s got a point, but most activists are like that. The cause almost inevitably swallows all else about a person. TRAs are no different.
Fox News Sports posted an article today about the X exchange between Ben Rothenberg and Martina Navratilova. The Fox News headline:
Fox wrote “transgender athletes” where I might prefer to write “male athletes”, but I am still very happy to see the X exchange in front of a broad sports readership.
I went to the Title IX bus tour in Washington DC yesterday at The Bullpen (an open-air sports bar, one block north of Nationals Park). Very well organized. Free ballpark-style food and drinks. The weather was hot and humid, but the experience was wonderful.
Organizers had cleaned the graffiti off the bus (leaving just some streaks). And after the speaking program, they invited us to sign the bus with a bucket of Sharpies they provided. Beautiful way to turn that energy around! And funnily enough, I brought some Sharpies too! And I signed the bus!
Big finish for the bus tour in Nashville, TN today (Friday, June 28). Rally doors open at 1:30 pm for the program of speakers at 2:00 pm Central Time (2:30 pm and 3:00 pm Eastern Time, if that helps you find the live stream):

The press release above is well worth reading for a recap of the tour, and to imagine how much money and coordination went into it. Remarkable!
This final program will be emceed by Jonathan Hutton and Chad Withrow of the OutKick show Hot Mic. At first that struck me as incongruous — for two men emcee to the program — but then I looked up the OutKick About page:
So OutKick and those two guys are doing what they do. And they’re presenting the “Take Back Title IX” bus tour to their audience. In my opinion, this whole project has been amazing and brilliant.
Many thanks for the reporting, Dave!
You are very welcome, Ophelia! I am watching the live stream right now at the link below. The sports bar is packed. The program just started. WOO-HOO!!
