The Beeb, unlike the Guardian, does eventually admit that the guy is trans, but only very late in the piece (and everyone knows that most of us don’t read all the way to the end). Admitting the murderer is a man after many paragraphs of “she offered him a bottle of vodka before she led him towards the river” and the like is as minimal as possible. They really want to pin these violent sadistic crimes on us.
There are misogynists who’ve been baselessly claiming that “women are just as violent” for years, and I’d counter them with solid data. It won’t be too much longer before the data is so tainted that it’s quite worthless to understand anything about how men and women look in violent crime data.
I rather expect that a number of men are quite thrilled to see women’s reputation as a class being destroyed in this way.

Stuff media in NZ picked up the Telegraph version of the story which said in the first paragraph that he was trans. So that’s something I guess. Most unlike Stuff.
