She’s a real sexist slur
Dominique Pelicot jailed for 20 years
A French court found Dominique Pelicot guilty of repeatedly drugging and raping his then wife Gisèle for almost a decade, and inviting dozens of strangers to rape her unconscious body in a case that horrified the world.
The 72-year-old, who was married to Gisèle for 50 years, was handed the maximum 20-year prison term. He had pleaded guilty to the charges. Gisele Pelicot, who waived her right to anonymity, thanked her supporters after the verdicts and said she respected the court’s decision.
“This trial was a very difficult ordeal,” she said in her first comments at the end of the sentencing.
Yes I should think it was.
She’s the “real sexist slur” [con, I assume]. She is. She’s in a deep sleep because her husband drugged her, and she’s the real sexist slur.
Humans are a mistake.
I’m pretty sure the sexist slur implied is something like “slut” (i.e. a slur for women who have sex with lots of men), and the reason she doesn’t know it is because she is fucking unconscious after her rapist pimp of a husband drugged her.
Bring on the asteroid.
But if it were “slut” the Beeb would have just said it, I’m pretty sure. That’s why I assume it’s “con” – too rude for the BBC to spell out.
But “con” is just French for “cunt”, and we all know that “cunt” is just a term of endearment in the UK.
But on a more serious note, I cannot imagine having the strength and poise it took for her to sit through that trial, and watch those videos. Talk about heroic.
That would make a good title for a movie – Terms of Endearment Too Rude for the BBC to Spell Out.
My almost non-existent memory of High School French leads me to believe the word would have been cochonne.
However, the more realist moi is wondering why French men are communicating with other French men in English. Whilst English has become the global de facto lingua franca, surely the French still communicate in French with each other.
Why do you think the word would have been cochonne? Again, if it had been, the BBC would not have substituted “[sexist slur]” for the word. Pig is not unprintable or unsayable.
Also, the dialogue in the tweet has to be the BBC translation. Karim S did not himself say “sexist slur”; that was the BBC. Of course the French men weren’t speaking English.

Ah, slut; I did not know that.
But the point still stands: the Beeb wouldn’t have censored that.
He’ll die in behind bars. At least there’s that.
