Nimbra, Bimbra, whatever
Oh we’re going here again are we?
On Friday, for example, Mr Trump took to social media to refer to Ms Haley as “Nimbra”, a misspelling of her birth name Nimarata, and to baselessly suggest she was ineligible to serve as president or vice president in the US.
The jab against the US-born Ms Haley – whose parents emigrated to the US from India in the 1960s – was reminiscent of the false birther attacks Mr Trump deployed against former President Barack Obama.
It’s all the more attractive in someone whose own paternal grandfather was not Born in the USA.
I really have to struggle to not just go, ‘she deserves this’ when it comes to Haley and Trump. After all, even now, she won’t directly denounce him, saying he was ‘the right president at the right time’, and only saying ‘chaos follows him’ (rather than, ‘he creates chaos deliberately’). On policy, she agrees with him 100%. And of course, her name-change is a desperate attempt to get the GOP base to forget that she is not, in fact, Anglo-Saxon. Yest as awful as she is, Trump is undeniably worse in all regards.
Same. It’s pretty absurd seeing her get critical about him now.
His mother was Scottish, born in Tong, a village in the Western Isles of Scotland, to Scottish parents.
Also, I don’t know how this fact has eluded me thus far, but I’ve just learnt that his paternal grandmother’s middle name was ‘Christ’.
Oh, Lord,!
It’s interesting that the Founding Fathers were very careful to disqualify anyone foreign-born from the Presidency, but didn’t get around to barring those who are complete fucking morons.
