Maybe you do, but we don’t
I honest to god thought this was just one more Twitter fool mouthing the platitudes, but it turns out she’s an MP and government minister (in Canada…of course).
It’s certainly way more than anyone else gets. Other marginalized or neglected or persecuted sets of people get one day if they’re lucky. Trans people The trans communinny get multiple days, weeks, months. Why is that?
Will they ever grasp that all this overkill simply fosters annoyance at best and hostility at worst? Skip the luxury pseudo-persecution and focus on people who really do need attention and assistance.
but it turns out she’s an MP and government minister (in Canada…of course). What are implying here? I gather you are not Canadian judging from you comment “in Canada” but I don’t understand your inference.
Transgender Awareness Week might have been something of a misstep. More and more people are becoming aware of transgender, and the problem is that they don’t like it very much.
My “awarness” level has been raised. Honestly. With everybody who puts pronouns in their bio, I am aware. I did a little experiment when I joined the local senate district’s Democratic comiittee, all of the other members put pronouns in their Zoom names. And on the first meeting, we were to introduce ourselves and say our pronouns.
When it came to my turn, I skipped it. After two years no one adds their pronouns except for those who are guests.
BecauseI don’t wear a yarmulke to make Jewish members feel comfortable, I don’t end my sentences with “PBUH,” and I don’t use whatever distinguishing signifier that other cultural minorities use.
I think this is the 40th trans awareness week, if you include the 4 weeks of women’s history month and the lead up to mother’s day, international women’s day, etc.
This is a trained parrot talking. I see that what there is of a response (not much) is contemptuously dismissive.
The misuse of ‘authentically’ to support an outright lie pisses me off. There is not much that is less authentic than a man presenting as a woman.
Looking at the extensive GLAAD LGBTQ Community Calendar, I find the following entries that reference or imply “trans”, in whole or in part:
That’s a lot.
