How dare we kick up a fuss
Keir Starmer promises to continue ignoring women.
Keir Starmer has pledged to end the Tory culture wars if he becomes prime minister. In an exclusive interview, the Labour leader told HuffPost UK that people are “exhausted” by the political battles over issues such as trans rights.
So he’ll just continue to ignore women’s concerns. Thanks Mister Sir!
Starmer has been criticised in the past for shifting his own position on transgender rights. However, the Labour leader said his government would look to bring an end to those controversies on day one. He said: “I think people are exhausted by culture wars. My clear view is that the vast majority of the public in general in the UK are reasonable, tolerant people.”
Unlike those stupid noisy bitches who won’t shut up, right? So exhausting.
Yes, we are, but we also have a grip on reality that precludes acquiescence to just-so stories, so stop trying to flatter us into accepting the unacceptable.
Starmer doesn’t acknowledge that his own pushing of trans “rights” is a “culture war.” Funny how opposition to trans demands constitutes “war” when their demands themselves (which are based on ideas that are both ludicrous and dangerous) do not.
Given that he does not see the beligerent, bullying hegemony of his chosen side in this war, this can not be good for the protection of women’s rights.
I’ve just read the piece in HuffPost and it seems to me to be almost completely vacuous: Starmer hasn’t committed himself to anything at all. He has reportedly said that he will ‘end Tory culture wars’ and that he ‘wants to focus on bringing people together’. All very cosy. But not a clue about the actual policies he proposes to pursue.
NightCrow:
Neither does he. He’s playing it by ear.
I had thought the that Tories were now so unpopular that they had no hope of winning the forthcoming election. Keir Starmer seems determined to prove that I’m wrong..
